posted this thread before the site went thru the portal and it didnt come out the otherside (i guess with everythin else!) and i lost all the info in it :(

Pretty much got an oil leak out of the dizzy - i think the seals busted..

A few people offered their advice about what to look out for when fixing it and it was gladly appreciated.

Couple of things i wanted to know were: 1) what main things to look out for and do when going in to operate? and 2) where do i buy replacement seals/rings from?

cheers again for the help!

yep that was the thread doony.. cheers!

well its all done.. took me all day but hey learned a few new things :peek:

odin auto's ended up having the right inner u-seal (part no. 400704N) and i 'pandered' and just got an o-ring from toyota- but found out later odin had one anyway.. (both $7.20)

sorry no pics.. but both ring and u-seal were hard an knackered!

probably most tricky part was getting the dizzy gear off, had to drill out the pin in one end and punch it out (cos its mushroomed out on both sides) - was told if u try and punch it out without drilling you risk making a mess of the shaft and gear.. then replaced everything an yeh just stuck a roll pin in with abit of loctite .. sweet as!

marking everything helps big time ;)

I had the same problem as well...leaky distributor, but the O-ring was fine when the distributor was removed...turns out that the inner seal was dry and brittle, so probably the sealing effect was compromised.

I got the part from Statewide Bearings (very effficient guys) for ard $5. This is the inner seal (also known as TC10/20/7 - I got to know this from another forum, didn't see this post previously):
