SA Motorkhana Thread 09/10

ok AE86DC members the last "smart wax" motorkhana has just passed.

there is another Motorkhana which is being held by the porsche club of sa on the 20/09/2009 at Monaro big w

there are a couple of thing to keep in mind
1. you have to make a booking to enter (the last one was like this i will check tho)
2. they use witches hats so u can't realy see where u are driving..lol
3. if we all head out in corollas and make lots of noise they get irritated...lol
4. all u need is a car and some money to pay for entry

there is a SA championship being held on the 13th of September if anyone want to go have a look how the motorkhana SA set up the tests and perform them

these guys in my opinon do a much better setup. Sadly we are all going to have to wait until next year. I will keep everyone update as best I can. this is a cheap way to have fun with your corolla and learn some good skills.

Join the porsche Club, then you can do all their events as you need to be a member to compete

lol andy is talking about Porsche events. All the motorkhana dates listed no CAMS licence is required but u will need to pay for a day licence + normal entry fee. I suggest if u are going to do a few, join a club for a low price and use the CAMS licence to get cheaper entry to motorkhana.

Hopefully i can get out there and do a few skids in the rally car. For people who havnt done alot of sliding or things of that nature these events are great ways to improve your car control and driving in general.

as long as you stop and wait in the end garage till they tell you to leave there fine, and you not smashing the markers and stuff, check the vids on the first page, ill i did was skids and they loved it

They clearly state at the start of the meeting that it IS NOT drift practice. With a RWD car especially if you have a locker or lsd the fastest way around the cones is usualy sideways. So you can get away with a fair bit, just follow the "motorkhana" rules and they shouldnt have an issue.

just a quick note to everyone who attends, please remember that at scrutineering if you have any loose objects in you’re car they will have to be removed.

also all of the events highlighted on the cams calendar below are at the Big W Distribution Centre at Monarto. Drive up the freeway, take the turnoff to Monarto and it's on your right. You can't miss it, but if you hit the railway line, you've gone too far!

The day starts with entries and scrutineering from 9:00 am and usually finishes around 4pm. Spectators are more than welcome to attend, it's great fun to watch.

Cost to enter is $25 and you also require a CAMS Level 2NS licence or better ($46 a year, $11 for juniors). You can also buy a 1 day lience if u don't have a CAMS licence it think.
