Car - Ke70

motor - 4age bigport (not that it matters(

use -street daily

problem -i have recently bought new wheels and the dont fit

occurs/started when -i put the wheels on

personal situation - I have new wheels (getting) they wont fit my gaurds im running some bolton flairs and they wont fit under them and the flairs are really sketchy and look shit.

So i was wondering what i can do i have thought about putting some front flairs on the rear and was wondering how hard it is are there any pointers tips on how to do it or if anyone has any other suggesttions btw the wheels are 14x9 -25.

cheers cal.

maybe wait until you actually get the wheels then test fit them and see what you need to do

how would putting front steel guards on the rear and flaring them, possibly give more room than decent bolt ons?

in all honestly 9 -25s are a bit overkill on a ke70

and as a daily? u wont last ten minutes lol

thoses sizes will look a bit odd on a ke as the rear gaurds are alot smaller than the fronts, so you will have stock front guards then massively flared rears

Dailys 'should' have wheels that fit in stock guards IMO

Obviously you want more extreme

My corolla had a dead flush 8 -22 with a front flared guard on the rear but that was trimmed back about 15 or so mm so 9 -25 will stick 15mm further out which is very wide but will fit with a 185/60.

But is that what you really want as a daily? That much stretch and track? Id find some 8 -10's all round and flare slightly to suit personally, or some 8 +-0 and fit them in stock rolled guards.

Your rear guards will cost you around 1500 bucks for the front to rear thing from a panel beater

your rear will sit out another 6mm from this, bit much for a daily imo

Finding bolt-on flares that look good and suit a *E7* is hard, i ended up getting some universal bolt on flares that i liked the look of and modded them to suit. Moulding them to fit and prepping them for paint took about 2 hours each flare (im not a professional panel beater obviously) I then modded the original guards to have ample clearance. The front guards were easy, just angle grind off the original flare leaving just a little bit of it so as to bolt on the fibreglass flare slightly further down and pushed out. The rears were harder as you had the same work as the fronts plus the inner gaurd has to be cut out aswell then shaped and re-welded to the outer lip. My bolt-on flares now give my car a 10mm lower appearance all round, 30mm more clearance at the front and 35mm more clearance at the rear. All up it took me about 10 hours and they still havent been painted yet. Goodluck.

cut the outer skin of the 1/4 on the flare line.

also cut it just above the return. then youll be able to reveal the inner. cut the inner a little below, so you have a bit of excess, so you can hammer it up and weld it shut.then trim it back. you can just do spots here, like every 2cm or so, saves over heating the 1/4 and saves a lot of time.

then like ppl said, cut the section from the front guard on the flare line and weld it on to where the old crease is. fully weld this along the whole join. do like 1cm or so at a time moving around and. cool the area after each short run. use a wet rag or air from an air blower.

it will still sink. but you grind the weld back and bog it up. expect to have to bog a fair bit above the crease.

seal the inside with a paintable seam sealer. get the one you can apply with a corking gun. i give it a bit of a bash also, before the bod goes on the outside of course, just to make a bit more room.

thats it, ke's are easier than 86s cos of the door. its hard to fuck up really. doesnt sink as easy and there is no reo' in there thats in the way. and less flat area to sink cos half of it is the door.

good luck, remember, its just a ke, a rusted one at that. give it a go.

i usually take the tank out so i dont get blown up.

make sure if you do you dont put it where the sparks are flying.

ae71neo has done it as well

Things like this arent hard to do yourself, they just take time and effort to do properly. Plus Slydar said it well "good luck, remember, its just a ke, a rusted one at that. give it a go."
