Pictures of ae86 with twin exhaust

Hey guys

Not entire sure if this goes in this section or the discussion Mods can move if they need to.

Going to get the exhaust on redone and want a setup similar to the Trust DD or Reinhard styles but with smaller pipes around 2.5"

Just looking for some photos of similar setups on ae86s, trying to decide on sizes and style of tips. Similar to the ones below but on the car

Not an AE86 but you get the idea. it's 2 1/4.

ive got a funny feeling 3-3.5 or 4 standard DD size, sorry

thanks a lot guys, pretty sure i'll go a similar design to the Trust DD but maybe with the pipes cut on an angle but this might look shit

the DD actually has a slight maybe 5deg angle cut, but on my new exhaust i had a 45deg cut on it

nah, i HAD a DD on the car with the tips pictured, now ive got a Singlular 3" pipe with a 45deg cut

Reinhard system sounds best with the baffles in, wonder what they would be worth?

twin 2.5" pipes, although i thought they looked a bit small and if i did it again i'd go 3" or 3.5".

Cost me $160 bucks and i took it off as soon as i got home because it sounded crap. I was actually ashamed to drive it home from the exhaust shop!

what sounded so crap about it the tone or what?

Yeah the tone was really tinny, kinda like a lancer with a cheap small cannon.

When i had the twin exhaust put on i also had the resonator swapped for a muffler, it was all kinds of fail.

damn i really like the look of that exhaust! do you still have the same exhaust but with different mufflers or did you just change it completely?

as you can see its just straight pipe, i think that a different muffler before it or one of those twin tips with the baffles would of sounded better.


and i put this back on, actually made it a tad quieter and sound alot better.
The front half, up to the weld line is made like a 'turbo' muffler. (ie perforated tube wrapped in matting to suppress noise)

yeah same i quite like that single tip as well!

so is that new pipe have the turbo type muffling all the way through to the bend? did you get that custom made then? does it also have another resonator or just straight pipe?

sorry for so many questions just like late the idea of having the muffler throughout it

The green box is the bit that's muffled with a 4.5" tip on the end and the red circle is where a label is welded on with 90175 stamped on it.

It was on the car when i got it and i haven't seen any others like it.

Had a resonator in the middle but got it changed to a muffler. still loud as hell tho.
