Recently I sold pretty much all my parts which consisted of my AE86 or that of what I was building. The reason I did this as I have planned to move to japan and instead of spending money on the car then selling it later for less profit I thought it would be wiser to give up whilst I was still a head and pack it in.

Only a few weeks have past and already I felt quite empty by this and a small itch in the palm of my hands started to form. It wasn't an itch from grabbing the dog poo from the lawn or some miracle of jesus, but by the itch of building cars and driving them.

I am also selling my S14 and believe that once it was sold I would still need a daily commuter to get me from A to B untill I left for Japan.

So I aquired this.

1984 AE71 Corolla CS-X

1st Owner, 93,000kms
Auto
Air conditioned
Mintox Condition

Before this I thought it would be ideal to move my 20v blacktop and suspension into an AE71 and had purchased some 13x8 Mark2's

Once owning this car I concluded that it was too good to turn hack and easily be defected. So I came up with another plan.

This here some might know as a KE70 I once owned and then sold. It is equiped with the following.

http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/dcimages/7/1/26011.jpg

AE86 Kouki 7-Rib Bigport 4age othwise known as Special K
AE86 Zenki Disc Rear end with 2WAY LSD and a 4.3 final gear

A friend of mine bought it, it got defected and then he transfered it into a shell of his own, which also got defected. Recently he put it up for sale and now wanting something to build again and drive, decided to purchase it back of him.

So now I have a KE70 and some Mark2's. So I did this.

Mushka there, Also known as Battlecat protects the car whilst I am away.

Have already bought a list of new things for it.

AE86 BC Coilovers
Garage Clear Modified Steering Knuckles
40mm RCA
Xt130 LCA's
Jasma Extractors
New Quadlight surrounds
Bride fixed back and a Rail to suit KE70
AJPS Panhard rod
Steering Rack bushes
Spare AE86 Steering rack I put together from spare parts I had
AE86 Jasma Extractors to replace the sad standard primaries and secondaries ive had for many years
Shifter Rebuilt Kit

Also will get some 13x7 variants for skids.

Plan is to paint it white, put the lip back on it, cut bumpers down, keep it simple and have some fun :)

Don't think I will be owning anything hey, cutting the trip to 3months now i think. But If I was to get something its either 86 or s13. Surprisingly its hard which one to consider. 86 is a lot of fun to drive and steer but s13 is cheap/simple to maintain and has the power.

Ok. As I had some spare time and there is a drift event on this weekend I thought I would start putting my car together to see if I could make it. I don't think its possible though.

Anyway. Welded BC coilover base to the spindle. This side is a little shitty but the other one was a lot smoother/cleaner/consistant weld. Penitration is still good though so I guess thats what matters the most. Using a 35mm T3 RCA (Was told 40mm, but doesn't matter as it is good enough and has seemed to work perfect) and Garage Clear Version 3 Steering Knuckles/Arms on XT130 LCA.

Only using ADM 86 Calipers and Disc but have Project MU NR or NU Spec pads. Can't remember exactly.

http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/dcimages/7/1/27116.jpg

After this I fitted the Shock Body etc into the base, removed the current strut and lca and bolted this one in. Only bolted the Castor rod on and put it on the floor. Checked out the Tie rod and it seemed to be AGES away. Later realised I had the wheel turned almost full lock the other way haha, so I will check that out when i get to it again and just adjust accordingly.

I have new rack bushes to put in and an AE86 rack with good rack ends and tie rods. Thought I would try this first though as I don't think I need to harness all the lock that the Garage Clear arms can give so E7 rack should do.

Here is some pics of it on the ground.

I've got the base adjustment maxed out, its as low as it can go. Go 13" with 60 profile! :D Shits going to be LOW!

In one of the pics you can see the rear ass. It will have a little more track then that. At the moment the diff is pushing to the passenger side and is a little mexican on that side. Will fix it with the AJPS adjustable panhard.

Ok front is pretty much done now. As previously thought will need longer rack ends. Luckly I have some new RA60 ones I can use. At the moment its on about 1cm into the tierod and still has abit too much toe out.

Got pictures of the Other strut base and closer picture of the steering arms.

http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/dcimages/7/1/27223.jpg
http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/dcimages/7/1/27224.jpg

You can see that the base adjustment as at full low.

http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/dcimages/7/1/27225.jpg

Need to bleed brakes properly, fit ra60 rack ends.

http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/dcimages/7/1/27230.jpg

Then fit Rear shocks, Adjustable Panhard rod and adjust more to drivers side.
Spin rear caliper pistons all the way in.
Fit up Jasma extractors, fix exhaust and fit up, weld on muffler.
Wire in new TPS plug
Change fluids/filters/plugs/brake fluid

Wow, thanks for all the comments. Yer, the orange is really growing on me, but i really want to just cut the bumpers down. Even my dad said so! and he doesn't have much car sense or has never seen a e7 with short bumpers before, so it must mean something. But.. I'll finish it completely, buts and peices here and see what I think and your comments.

Got some more photos. Rear needs a little lower to level it out. Already got the exhaust hooked up on the driveway trying to drive a simple 1foot hahaha. Exhaust is being changed though so that shouldn't be a problem soon enough.

2 door locks no shit! Yer, its some old school thing, but it doesn't work anymore. Look at the beaver panel on the front. there is a lock there as well. It's like some ignition switch thing i discovered the other day. It's not hooked up to anything. This thing has too many locks. 6 in total ?

so gangster, fender mirrors would really set this off.

I'm trying to push myself into spending the money on them. Its kinda like "but they are only mirrors for my pos car" and they probably are worth more than the shell itself lol. That can be said for a lot of things on this car.

Will have an update this arvo hopefully. Only small things.

Maybe if I still have this when i get back from japan next year I'll spend dollars on the little things that count.

Replaced the Quad light covers with nice fresh new ones. Was cheap, so why not ?

Removed the highbeam for air induction. Contemplating getting a large stack for it :)

todd
6th November 2009, 04:59 PM
large stack is a must.
might also be an idea to replace those sealed beam outer jobbies with h4 lenses from supercheap and get some bulbs cranking.

that way u can see skippy when he pops up. if you drive at night of course.
otherwise, there is no reason to act on anything i say.
that is all.

yeah mattski helped me set those ones up and can attest (i think) to how bright they are.

if i parked at the beach and put my high beams on, i could see the southern tip of africa as if it was right in front of me.
