View Full Version : Sigma LCAs?

Wasn't sure what an appropriate title would be.

I tried mounting a TRD bar on my AE86 chassis with stock struts, stock LCA, an RCA and TRD race springs.

The TRD bar fouls the strut where the stock 22mm sway bar did not. I wanted to put a longer LCA in there since I'm having this trouble.

So, what is a Sigma? Is that a Mitsubishi Sigma? What year? I am trying to find an LCA that is 10mm longer than my stock arm and that requires as little modification as possible.

Any help here?

Thanks

I google'd XT130, I don't think we have anything like that here.

BUT, I'd be surprised if Toyota didn't use the same parts on cars that look completely different.

Here's a question:
Say I find an LCA that looks like it will work, but the ball joint is too large/small. Is it likely that I will be able to have a new AE86 ball joint pressed in, or if the ball joint is different, does that mean the mounting hole is larger?

Ok, basically,

I think in the 80's, all the RWD cars we got were the Cressida, Late Corona, Celica, Celica-Supra, and, TExx, and AExx cars.

As far as I can tell, none of the common LCA's you guys are using are on cars that I recognize.

I found that an MA61 Supra (6 cylinder) has a LCA length of 310mm or so, something I think I can deal with. Is the ball joint likely too large? Unfortunately, I don't have another pair of LCAs to take to the junk ward with me for comparison's sake.

Where are you located?

MA61 ball joints are miles too large. Best bet is KE55 if you got early Corollas.

California, USA.

I'm sure I could get ball joints for an early corolla, but I dunno if I can find a used one to grab LCAs from.

Are KE's common in OZ? I know we have them but I never seen them on the road.

Didnt have XT130s over there, the X was a Toyota/GM Starfire thing for Aus imports.

Go for a RT132 though, and youll be able to find one. RA40 as well.

Or just extend your existing arms... a couple of cuts and welds.

Your Corollas werent equipped with the K engine, so the chassis code you would be looking for will be TE30, TE35, TE37 or TE55.

OK, thanks for that info. Meaning, our corollas had 2TC or 3TC engines?

Correct.

So, any of those TExx (pre 81 cars), their LCA's should just bolt right up to my AE86?

If so, I'll order some tomorrow. I'm mainly concerned that the ball joint won't have the right taper size.

Part numbers indicated that the TE55 LCA is the same as an RA40 Celica. (78-81 approx). I can order that LCA.

Am I making a mistake by ordering an RA40 Celica LCA and expecting it to bolt right up? I need to make clearance for my TRD way bar that is too wide now...and I've been wanting a bit of extra track for a while now.

Wreckers isn't that cost effective. The new LCAs come with ball joints and inner bushings.

Also, 85% of the cars at the yards in my area are 85+ model year.
Thanks for the advice though.
