Compliance questions for an ae86

Hi all
Just a quick question
Will I be able to get a jap 86 complianced and registered with an engine swap, or would I be better off getting it complianced/registered with the bigport then doing the engine swap?
I was planning on doing the engine swap and other mods over the period of a year or two and having it off the road whilst I was doing it, so I don't see the point of having it registered in the process.

If it's another 4A* series motor, then it doesn't really matter, but you WILL have a harder time trying to comply any other conversions (CA, SR, etc etc)

If i were you, comply it while it has the 4A, and then don't register it until you've finished the conversion..
