JDM DX tail-lights in the ksev...glad i replaced mine...while removing the old ones found the wiring was pretty dodgy...

explains why the passenger side indicator would randomly not work...

new headlight surrounds and grill to be installed 2morrow...front bar, indicators and guard indicators coming soon...may even throw some chrome fender mirrors on it...lawson is tempting me with a madhouse lip...so might find itself on the car within long aswell

dropping it closer to the road quite soon aswell :D

interior is completely stock with ae86 seats...nothing exciting...but it is quite clean...

fuck it sucks building 2 cars tho...the cash ive spent on this in the last couple days getting the final bits and pieces for the engine conversion was being put aside to buy the carbon nobybooth intake for the ae86 :(

anyways...picking up ae86 steering rack this weekend...delivering some stock knuckles to get some cut and shut work done...

so next block of a few days off work it think the ole girl will get a new steering setup and hopefully a 3tc pending the sale of this bullshit built motor :D

Why the change to an 86 rack? Not hating... simply curious. More teeth and more lock?

Delazy
21st June 2010, 10:17 PM
ae86 rack has slightly more lock, due to extra teeth and slightly more stroke...i remeber jonny rochester went into this at quite a length in a thread sometime ago...

the other reason being that im putting new bushes, tie rods, tie rod ends etc thru the front end, so ill also get this ae86 rack rebuilt so its absolutely mint fresh and ready for a few years worth of hard time...

still trying to secure this motor...getting annoyed...but should be worth while

Delazy

apparently the jap xe7x racks are the same as ae86...australian ke70 however used a locally made rack which had shorter stroke/less teeth...

Touge Boy
21st June 2010, 10:29 PM
Ah k... Kinda like ADM and JDM R31's... Different rack on each car. 2 x for ADM and then another for JDM.

Should be good. ive replaced the entire front end on mine and it feels a million times better.

soooo...

still waiting on things to arrive from the US...holding things up and in due course tempting me to spend more money :s

so decided the brakes need a freshen up...grabbed some QFM HPX pads for the front and RDA slotted rotors to go with it...GSL rallysport hooked me up i might add...

decided seeing the direction i was heading regarding rear brakes on the ae86 had changed it free'd up the corona disk conversion i had stashed...so that is going onto this thing now...protex slotted rear disks and also ordered HPX pads to suit...

then got offered a deal on a cam, lifters and valve springs to suit which was hard to refuse...so they are also inbound...however will be waiting sometime as further research after purchasing tells me i need different retainers and push rods to suit the cam/springs...argggg!!

will then beef up the ignition for the sake of it once the cams/springs/lifters/push rods go in...thinking MSD Streetfire and blaster 2...should be quite a mint fun little car then :)

im counting down til all the goodies go in...looking forward to it...will be a totally different car and more than likely go harder than the ae86 lol

So this is heading towards the nearly completed status in lead up to annual...should be solid and rocking tassie roads this time next week!

Rocking front coilovers and firmer springs to previously it'll get dropped closer to the ground, an exhaust without a blown muffler for the first time in 4 years, whiteline swaybars and race knuckles! Yiew!

In other news, early next year the motor receives more goodies that are currently being arranged

Schnider 284f cam
Double valve springs
Ti retainers
Chromoly pushrods
New solid lifters
Oversized valves
Rebuilt 40mm solex carbs

The joys of building a 3tc head is the lack of parts/machining compared to a 20v lol! Everything is cheaper, me likey!
