funny this thread exists, I was soo close to buying a beast off road truck over the w.e... just to take my mind off the 86 for a little while and give me something else to do... I'm still planning on getting one soonish...
I have plenty of places to go around my area (Brissy) upon all this I also discovered there is a track (off road of course) not 5 mins from my house, only gay thing is its fenced off and only open to club members for races every fortnight.. fence is easy enough to jump though so I'll cut some laps on it no doubt if I get a new toy...

price???....thats a nice buggy

Gunner
11th November 2009, 04:31 PM
Not sure yet mate, will be around the 3-400 mark depending on what it needs. Will be basically a new buggy set up wise.

It will have either a sirio kanai evo 2, hyper 8 port, or hyper 28, or a sirio cl3 sport.

Should know by next week, then whoever buys it can choose what engine they want, and yeah.

Gunner
11th November 2009, 04:32 PM
may also have a new sirio kanai evo 4 STi combo available too, but that will be $450

Not a great deal in the scheme of things.... probably gonna get a HSP 1/8th truck, budget spec but it should be fun... read both good and bad about them.. but as I'm not a die hard enthusiast or a racer I cant justify the extra 200+ to get something a little more up market.... fuck they come with a 1 year warranty so I think that's quite reasonable...

Gunner
11th November 2009, 06:46 PM
lol, they won't cover anything, unless it is broken out of the box, as you will break it. Also very few hobby shops carry parts for them.

Buy a buggy dude, like a hyper 7, or 8 best bang for buck, budget car on the market, $400 for a brand new rtr hyper 7, on ebay.

Yeah true, I'm keeping my eye out for others that come up for sale... Not into buggy's really want a truck....

I'm not planning on launching it of massive jumps and what not like most/a lot of people, so it should survive... mostly just going to rip up my local soccer field and a few dirt tracks around my joint....

Will have to see what becomes available..... I keep holding back on the purchase because I'm in 2 minds over the whole thing presently... just want some cheap fun for the short term....

Gunner

savages are good too, lots of second hand ones on ebay, don't forget forums either, alot of good deals to be had.

i use to have a HSP.....good to bash around with it....not a lot of spares tough.....but yeh i upgrae it to a HPI hell fire....which i found out i could not race any competitions because of the specs....:(

By the way Gunner, which motor you recommended? are the motors new or used? i prefer the sirios.....good price too.

I love sirio's, I bought another 2 last night, another cl3 sport, which is a good engine I usually run one of these in my buggy, and I bought a kanai evo 4 sti, they are both 21's

what do you want an engine for the hell fire, aren't they a 1/10? I ran an LRP 18 in an MT2, that was pretty good. though if you can fit a 21, id buy a cl3 kit, comes with a 2013 pipe and sirio power clutch, for 350-400, pipe alone is 150, clutch is 70, so I think its a great deal

the hellfire is 1/8 and it is slight wider then the standard size truggies. i currently using axial 28 in the hellfire....

i was saying i prefer the sirio's in the hyper...

Gunner
12th November 2009, 11:04 AM
ah sorry, dude, was a bit out of it last night lol.

I have a sirio evo 2 on its way, you interested in that? If its in good nic, I'm going to do a crank mod in it, and up the timing, and then I will most likely off load it.

RB concept for the Hellfire. ST/RT28, C6-BBT

Damn expensive engines though, will cost the same as the truggy.
Sirio, ,mugen Ninja?
If you are running an Axial 28, I wouldn't look at changing it until it breaks. Your not racing so probably no point.

I shoehorned a RB concept TM323 (revo motor) into my friends Bazooka buggy, and that is crazy! Its only a basher though

i have a TNX5.2r but apparently the engine is fucked! barely got to use it as i got it then broke the rotor start crap, then it was in the shop for like 10 months waiting on the part!!!! and then finally got it back and got told by a different hobby shop its got a rooted engine..
when it was going it was rad, used to hit 8m doubles and the triples at the bmx tracks.

anyone got a cheap engine that will work in it? ^^^^

Slimer86

Take off the rotor start and clean the 1 way bearing and re-lube with sewing machine oil.

For general engine maintenance, Pg 17 - 21 of the manual, run through those sections.
Re-set needles to stock settings and re-tune with new fuel and glow plug.
Whats wrong with the engine? Won't run or runs but like crap?
If you havent run it for that long, it may have lost compression if you run it too lean for too long, or the glow plug is stuffed.
Did you run it in along the lines of Gunner's break in procedure?

Rear port .21 will do it.

or a high end 24 like the sirio would be nice, those things are mental off the line, and have a sweet top end like a 21.

Have never thought much of Nitro buggies and what not but my brother has a Nitro evader buggy sitting in the cupboard un-used. It's a DX 18 from memory. I'm gunna whip it out and have a tinker with it this weekend if he lets me.

Gunner
17th November 2009, 11:29 PM

crazy86
20th November 2009, 01:14 AM
bought myself the baja 5t yesterday, ran it in and got to thrash it this afternoon. was so good. in a new sub division heaps of jumps and drop offs and uneven terrain.

Gunner
20th November 2009, 05:20 AM
how much she set you back?

crazy86
20th November 2009, 09:20 PM
cost me 1700 cash with batteries for hand controller and quick time charger. ive seen these monster truck tyres you can get from fg racing and they look awesome. and theres this ss pipe and carbi you can get and apparently it will make it do wheelies

Gunner
21st November 2009, 07:13 AM
you can get them to absolutely haul ass, have a look into the 29cc stroker kit

crazy86
21st November 2009, 09:33 PM
nah not yet. i havent seen stroker kits but i have seen the 29cc engine for about 420. i was told of this after market brand of engine today, something 27, cant remember but the guy said it was nuts... torquey as. think i might do upgrades that are interchangeable for now. like pipe and fg wheel conversion. i was told the pipe will make it do wheelies and the wheel conversion makes it look awesome and handle better. other things like engine and heavy duty parts ill probably upgrade when i break them, and i will break them.

do you have a 5t or 5b?

what upgrade do you know of and any tricks?

Gunner
21st November 2009, 10:05 PM
neither, i prefer the nitro stuff over the 5th scale gas stuff

crazy86
22nd November 2009, 12:46 AM

Gunner

I got told it needs a new sleeve and piston or something. I just want something to get it going again. CBF with the rotor start I just want a cheap pullstart engine to get it going. Anyone got one???

Gunner
26th November 2009, 04:59 PM

Gunner
27th November 2009, 06:28 PM
I have a mod for a lrp 30, that will make your savage pull wheelies at any speed, pretty cool
