How many bolts are there?

Also is there a need to mount those little bracket things that come on the jdm 16vs that go from block to gearbox?

7 maybe in total? maybe 8 there are two types though, smaller 14 heads x5 or 6 and 17s x2.

and nah u dont need those little brackets, only dead weight really.
unless u want it to be all stock and nice then yeah a little more bracing cant hurt.

the brackets or the bellhousing?
bellhousing is direct fit. no problems there.

brackets who knows? someone else will be able to confirm but i was under the impression only 7a blocks didnt have the provisions for the brackets.

Those bracket things suck. They don't even line up on normal 4a.

It's all to do with the sequence you tighten the bolts up in.

Yeah the brackets didn't line up on mine either so I left them off

I think I only ended up using the 4 17mm headed bolts to fasten it.

Toyota love to over engineer everything.

it just seems that only 4 bolts is rather weak!

use all the bolts. it would suck to have your gearbox just jump off during some mad hill run.
but forget the brackets.

2 is more than enough as long as the dowels are there.

Yea, 4 bolts is heaps, gearbox also has cross member, nothing is going nowhere.

Also use never seize on the bolts so when you are underneath changing a 3 week old DEAD throwout bearing, it comes apart easier!!!

I had to use a 3/4 Impact Gun and HUGE extension to remove mine :(

Wire wheel and anti-seize all bolts. not just gearbox.

Yup, I only had 4 bolts on my 20v to T50 as well... not sure where 6 or 7 comes from.

yeah there are 4 main bolts and 4 bolts on the 2 brackets.
2 main bolts at the top, 1 at each side and then 2 bolts for each bracket to the gearbox. the brackets to the engine have 2 bolts on one side and then 1 on the other cause 1 hole doesnt line up.

those brackets are peice of piss to line up tho. just loosen them at the engine side to line them up properly on the gearbox side. once they all started then do them up tightly

Yep just the 4 main bolts here aswel.

Passenger side 16V Bracket DOES NOT fit on 20v without redrilling the block = not happening lol.

I had one of those brackets line up but the second needed one hole elongated with a file

One of those clubbie (lotus 7) builders sells the stiffener brackets for 20v in rwd, not cheap. I've noticed a difference, less vibration using the stiffener bracing.
