Hi guys,
Yesterday I went along to a track meet in my local area and there were 2 classes for ae86's running. I thought I'd post up some pics and share with you the glory of amatuer AE86 racing in Japan :)
The sound of about 20 highly modified 4AGE's on track at once is just awesome!
The 2 classes were GT and N1
GT is the top class and is pretty open to any sort of modification really, there were turbos, and many different types of suspension replacements (I couldn't tell if there was any restriction). There were about 20 or so cars.
The N1 class is basically very amatuer, only stock cams and inlet manifold allowed, also must use a bigport 4age as far as I can tell. You can't run fibreglass doors and windows must be glass for the front and door windows, quarter and rear can be plexi. Suspension seemed to be pretty open though. There is a regulation tyre- Dunlop Z1 which comes in 14x185, 14x195, 15x195. In this there were about 10 cars competing.
Common engine setups are, exhaust + air filter/induction, high compression (AE92 rods and pistons, TRD headgasket), ported head.
I'm still getting a bit of work done on my car but hopefully next time I'll be running in N1...
There were also 2 unrelated classes, 'open' for basically any car (these looked pretty nuts and were fast!) and a 'sports class' which had lightly modified cars and compacts.
Anyway pics:
First up are all the GT's
From memory this was the 2nd fastest and also the sexiest:

This was nuts, I'm not sure whether I like or not but there was a lot of attention to detail put in! And it was quick.

That is turbo running quads and NOS... He told me that he wasn't using the nitrous on the day though
