Hi guys,

Yesterday I went along to a track meet in my local area and there were 2 classes for ae86's running. I thought I'd post up some pics and share with you the glory of amatuer AE86 racing in Japan :)
The sound of about 20 highly modified 4AGE's on track at once is just awesome!

The 2 classes were GT and N1
GT is the top class and is pretty open to any sort of modification really, there were turbos, and many different types of suspension replacements (I couldn't tell if there was any restriction). There were about 20 or so cars.
The N1 class is basically very amatuer, only stock cams and inlet manifold allowed, also must use a bigport 4age as far as I can tell. You can't run fibreglass doors and windows must be glass for the front and door windows, quarter and rear can be plexi. Suspension seemed to be pretty open though. There is a regulation tyre- Dunlop Z1 which comes in 14x185, 14x195, 15x195. In this there were about 10 cars competing.
Common engine setups are, exhaust + air filter/induction, high compression (AE92 rods and pistons, TRD headgasket), ported head.
I'm still getting a bit of work done on my car but hopefully next time I'll be running in N1...

There were also 2 unrelated classes, 'open' for basically any car (these looked pretty nuts and were fast!) and a 'sports class' which had lightly modified cars and compacts.

Anyway pics:

First up are all the GT's
From memory this was the 2nd fastest and also the sexiest:

Basically all the cars had some hot wheels:

I think this was the fastest: (this name seems a bit familiar)

This was nuts, I'm not sure whether I like or not but there was a lot of attention to detail put in! And it was quick.

That is turbo running quads and NOS... He told me that he wasn't using the nitrous on the day though

This Bride car seemed to be very well put together, only average performance on track though (I think the driver was only learning though as he span out on the slow warm up lap lol)

These are the open class cars:

Out of all the Open class this civic was fastest on track... for some reason he dropped out after qualifying. It was bloody fast though!

VTEC / Lightweight class:
This s200 had all removable panels replaced with CF ones, it was amusing seeing it get beaten by a very stock looking S2000 and a Civic.

And I saved some of the best eye candy for last :)
Not on track but apparently the last round he was... and very fast too!

No problems, but I have to disagree about 'junk'! There are some awesome AE86's in aus... I reckon I there is as much innovation in Australia as there is anywhere else in the world.
There were definately no 1UZ's out there! I didn't see a 3S either... (except for the one in the S15!)

Next round I'll post some more...

By the way there are a few more pictures in this alubumn:

Thanks for the comments!

No pics of the 3s in the s15 I didn't see it with the bonnet up at all... since everyone there were toyota fans it was consensus that it was an awesome idea. We were sort of debating how it would have been done... The S15 runs the same J160 box as the Altezza so there is a possibility that it bolts up quite neatly with a 3s altezza bellhousing (once the engine mounts are sorted)... Any ideas?

By the way, the blue turbo ae86 shown also runs an altezza box, bellhousing is half T50 and half J160 welded together... it also runs a T series with TRD 2 way...

Anyway, here are some pics of the blue trueno and those crazy looking headers for Breka and Rice86

Hearting that Crinkle red inlet plenum and the whole thing to be honest, must have been good to see a "real" track day,

suspension wise, did you notice many cars with equal length 4-link rear ends?

Thanks man!
There is apparently a meet up of local corollas on the weekend, not a track day or anything, just a gathering.
Hopefully there'll be something different but equally as impressive, I'll take some pics and post them up here.
