I'm thinking of getting a RC for drift, but there are so many brands out there.
A mate reccomended this RC (http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXWVA6&P=ML)

don't want to spend to much, as its just for abit of fun.

HPI E10 Drift? I think it's called. Supposedly a great entry level drift car. I recall you can pick them up for around $150 ready to run.

i payed $250 for my setup posted:D should be enough for shits and giggles, you don't need the best of the best, it's just an rc car,it'd be good to ge tosme of the melbourne boys into it ey,could have a nice little meet-up then go skid actual cars

I'd suggest sticking to hpi, as parts support in Australia is far better.

than tamiya? not for 1/10th tourers man. tamiya is the brand.

if youre not too fussy, then just buy something 2nd hand off ebay.

also, dunno about a grand for a ta05

the chassis should only cost you like $200
4000ish kv/9.5 turn brushless combo $150 max
radio $40-$60
drift wheels and tires, $60
charger and battery $100-$300.

$750 max. but thats for all brand new stuff. 2nd hand rc stuff is dirt cheap.

If your after something cheap and don't care much about it then the TT01 would be suitable. If say, you want something more balanced and adjustable, then the TA05 is the way to go.

Generally, eBay can sometimes have some good examples pop up. Also make sure you get a car that your local hobby store stock parts for. It'll be a pain in the rearside if you have to wait 2 weeks for parts.

You can get ready to run tt's on ebay for like $300 new. Albeit without battery and charger. Im thinking that might do me for starters.

anything with 4 wheels, steerig servo, ele speed controller, motor, batterie and a remote tbh, you dont need a HEAPS fancy rc car to drift them

and also a RTR kit is your best bet mate

I thought I saw it on a website, could be mistaken. More likely around the $200 mark.

I have bought from these guy's before, and highly recommended on RC forums.
http://www.amainhobbies.com/product_info.php/products_id/32773/n/HPI-Sprint-2-Sport-RTR-Drift-w-Nissan-Greddy-350Z-Body
and atleast one of these:http://www.amainhobbies.com/product_info.php/products_id/145630/n/ProTek-R-C-6-Cell-72V-NiMH-Speed-Battery-Pack-w-Traxxas-Connector-4200mAh

So including postage and current exchange rate should be around the $300 mark with inclusion of a battery pack landed then purchase a charger local (I recommend a swallow advance or Nick's preferred option, because you can charge any battery type in the event you change to lipo's or lithium ion's)
You also get the choice of shell, including AE86 trueno shell.
With the current exchange rate, check out local options and availability of parts and support, then look across the board, you are pretty much guaranteed to save a few $$.
