Hey tim.duncan, I think that car may have belonged to a guy named Adam. He also had a harlequin painted 86 with a 3sgte and a blue datsun 1600 wagon.

was this the harlequin 3SGTE? flicked from orange to burgandy.

That was a Adelaide car that went to Perth and Tim's vice versa :P

I believe the yellow one got crashed like a year or so ago.

If it is indeed the correct car I'm talking about, I have its both rear panels from the wreck LOL

Did one of those rear panels (drivers side one) have bog chipped off the rear corner?

If so, its not the car. The yellow one looks like Tim's old 86, and afaik its still going.

The yellow one with the ROH rims is still in one piece - BD 18636.
Definitely no bog in that one. It was a full rebuild with brand new rear quarter panels in '99 (the last new quarter panels available in Oz...)

I sold it to a mate of a mate and he sold it about last august to a mate of his who AFAIK isn't part of the 86 scene.
The head was off the motor due to being driven around super rich which caused a glazed bore. Still made ~143 rwhp with the dodgy cylinder!

Hmmm, no bog. I must be mistaken then. The mind seems to wander a lot when ya get on in years LOL

Yeah me and a mate bought it around 7 months ago and done a little bit of work to it to get it going and freshen things up. We wanted to keep it but i have other plans and he has just bought a house, so its up for sale now.

Tim, if I can recall, the guy who had yours also built one that had a 1ggte? that went to the East Coast, same silver I think.
And, yes I do also remember him selling his cars to fund a trip back to the USA or something.

Original motor in your car was a big port gze, then a small port gze, then your current big port gze.

You're talking about a different person and car to sr_esky's car.

OK, the mystery is over.... the admin finally approved me to post. I built the silver AE86 from the ground up. It still ranks as one of my favourite cars ever (including an M3 and a C5 Vette!). It was mostly done by Tony Flood, with 'Hi Ho Silver' custom paint by Terry Rowe. Any questions, just ask.
I also owned the harlequin 86 as well. It was a piece of shite when I bought it. Just to give you an idea, the original owner couldn't get enough fuel to the engine.... so he cut a hole in the gas tank, welded and glued some sort of can to the bottom with a bigger fuel pump in it. It looked like a sheep's dag waiting to be pulled of by the nearest parking bumper! I replaced it with a custom 60l drop tank from Loui from Guru Welding. Every time I took it out, something broke. Drive shaft, turbo, exhaust, wiring and much more had to be replaced. The battery was mounted in the boot with monster cables running underneath along the fuel lines... right next to the drive shaft! Anyway, I got the car 90% complete before I had to sell it and emigrate back to the USA. It had the potential to be a great car.... it ran an 11.9 with shitty tires and a locked diff!

I like hearing histories of cars. Adds character.

Guru welding, that's a name I haven't heard in years. That place closed down like 5 years ago, maybe more.
