-engine start after a long rebuild
-leisurley drive in the hills
-dyno day

:gah: The hosting of the videos is not working. I'll have to upload them again:cries:.

Hey,

Yeah spent about 2-3years full time on the body rebuilding it from the ground up. That time was gonna be treated like an apprentice ship for car resto, but i ended up going back to uni.

The body came nude (no paint) with no doors or bonnet/front gaurds. The previous owner had put on new factory side skirt/ door seals with the origonal part number, so i'm lucky to have a car with no rust :O

The front gaurds had some rust cut out and new parts fabricated; the bonnet was treated with malassas and deoxydine.

The engine is mostly stock 18r-g but the one with the better head and running gear. Currently has 2 x duel throat OER 45mm carbs. It put out 78rwkw @6800 when I last had it dynoed, but it should be putting out 92-98rwkw @7200-7400. Maybe could put that down to a lame old fuel pump, a constricing exhaust, and the engine's running badly at the moment.

Looking at getting an altezza BEAMS 3S GE for it :)) That should start with a stock 144kw at the fly wheel. The 4/5th gen 3S-GTE can put out 267rwkw so maybe ill look at increasing that stock figure at some stage.

Check out the classic celica SA forum some time, theres more detail on gen 1's there :))

sounds like you have got yourself a sweet ride there, and alot more of a fun one with the upgrade!
I have to say i'd be alot happier with your 18-rg compared to my rc lol, it's putting out some solid power i didnt think they were that powerful without serious mods! Is it an rg or rgu?
An rg is on the cards for me however im thinkin of selling and finding a shell painted or rust free and convert her :) one question though, how much does yours get out of a tank? Say after a tune as you mentioned its not running well?
major factor in my decision but i can hopefully not use it as a daily :)

It gets about 10L/100km on the freeway and its not too bad in the city. Its an 18R-GU, but it didn't come with emissions control. I think the car has a better head then normal? I've been sifting through some info and i'l have to check the engine number to find out if there is some kind of difference between my engine head and the standard one. It may be the case that it has larger valves then normal (a factory build at one stage or another it seems).

You should definately check out www.classiccelicasa.com/forum/ (http://www.classiccelicasa.com/forum/) as there is an RA 23 thread (in the tech section) with direct links to some of the info i've been sifting through :D

I'll have to wait a little until I sell my TT A80 Supra (in the sale section :D) I'll start figuring out what to do then, but at this stage i've had a quote for a BEAMS-dvvt-i, 6spd gear box, loom, computer, sensors. Will keep my eyes open :D

I might put a post in the general section about his car, because its ae86 everything bar the chassis. Says he will have his engine conversion done in 1 month...I'm Jealous.
