How to install a Weber on your 4ac.

6 months ago I wasted what little monies I had (instead of saving it for a 4AG) and installed a Weber 32/36 on my 4ac boat anchor.

So for you noobs out there wanting to follow suit here is how to go about it.

Difficulty: Easy to average skill level

Duration: couple of hours

What you will need:

- Weber 32/36 (or carbie of your choice)
- Vice grips
- Sockets/spanners
- Weber adaptor plate/set
- Rubber fuel line hose (from pump to Weber/Carbie, 30+cm)
- 2 x Hose clamps for above mentioned fuel hose.
- 10 grommets/plugs for blocking un-needed vacuum lines (may not use all, but good to have extras)
- Gasket paper or gasket set.
- Scraper/blade
- Oil breather (optional)
- Screw drivers
- Angle Grinder
I think that should cover it, though there maybe a few other things that I may have forgotten about.

Installation:

Step 1: Remove fuel cap and leave half on, this is to release pressure in the fuel lines. And battery Negative just for safety.
Remove old & tired stock carbie and the 1500 vacuum lines, and block off fuel pump, so not to make a mess and/or set your pig on fire. Your intake manifold should now be bare.
(Refer to picture, I removed everything not needed.)
Clean up surrounding area and use scraper to clean off old gasket if deteriorated.
Retain the heat deflector, plastic spacer with rocker return hose and some rubber vacuum lines

Step 2: Using vice grips remove Carbie intake manifold studs, and replace with new ones provided in the adaptor plate set. Replace heat deflector gasket if needed, then re-install heat deflector.
Install plastic spacer with rocker return hose, and then install adaptor plate/set.
Then install Weber/Carbie gasket, then Weber/Carbie.

Step 3: Using the grommets/plugs, block off all vacuum lines except the one that comes off the Weber/Carbie and Dizzy. Using the old vacuum hoses, connect the vacuum line from Weber/Carbie to Dizzy. And if possible purge the vacuum line form Charcoal Canister into an existing vacuum line.

Step 4: Using an angle grinder cut off the Old throttle cable mount, then using a ruler measure the distance needed to mount the throttle cable off the brake booster bolt. With this measurement make a small cut and bend the modified bracket at a 90° to allow the connection of the throttle cable at the recorded measurement. (I choose to shorten my throttle cable to get a perfect fit, there is a place near Liverpool that can custom make you a throttle cable http://www.fdrive.com.au/)

Step 5: Install fuel hose from Weber/Carbie to Fuel pump. Connect rocker cover breather to 2nd Rocker cover outlet.

Step 6: Re-install fuel cap and install Air filter. Reconnect battery and see if you can start it up.
If you Weber/Carbie is not reconditioned, tuned (recommended) you will need to do so.

while i was at it i also made a little aluminium plate i cut out and gasket to properly block off the exhaust gas recirculation. it was gummed up and didnt work anyway but what the hell.

sweet, is there any benefit in doing so? is that the pcv valve?
