Remember to always take tho photo from the side of the car that is in the light not shadow! the shadow cast by the car hides everything but its outline

to answer your question on your blog/website, the phones are usually rendered in photoshop or a 3d cad program rather than photographed ;) so they can edit and remove whatever they like from the screen, and basically make it perfect.

i found a cool little walkthru for duplicating a mobile phone in photoshop a few years back, lt looked amazing.

My first contribution in here guys. Went out with some guys for a little bit at the start of the Fringe launch, pretty quickly turned into mayhem and i left for dinner at about 7pm.
Lots of cool things happening, and cool cats around the place. Here is a brief selection:

Lighting was pretty average, as most people were heading east down Rundle St, so we were left to shoot into the sun, so we had to work with what we had. I kept trying to get a silhouette of the dancing girls but they were advancing on me too quickly to get down on my belly, so i had to settle for the silhouette of the juggler, which turned out quite well IMHO :). I had left the flash in the office, so pretty much none of these had any flash on them. I think i used the on camera flash with the sausage guy and thats it. Was a good afternoon though.

hey todd, after testing the 70-200, im now going the 24-70, just a bit more practical

none the less, mad lens and highly recommend it... will be my next purchase after the 24-70

ahh yeah i have actually been looking at the 24-70 recently. but i just bit the bullet and got a couple more pentax lenses for my k1000. i really should scan some of my negatives n stuff and try get it up here for some people to see (im not all talk i swear!). whats the damage on the 24-70 new?

hmmm... i spoke to teds and their best is 2150, but from BH photo video, about $2000 with postage, but that depends on the rate at time of purchase.
im looking at a 24mm (i think 2.8) vivitar for my spotmatic, i should pick it up while its there... good lens
k1000 isnt screw mount hey?? what film do you shoot with? im using fuji sensia slide film right now

k1000 are bayonet or 'K' mount. probably one of the most popular mounts out there luckily. plenty of lenses to suit.
generally i shoot with ilford films because i do alot of B+W purely because i can process and print it myself, but if i use colour i will generally use any cheap shit i can find and the ask for it to be pushed a shitload when i get it processed so it doesnt have straight colours and has more texture.
that or i will cross process some slide film, but that has it's ups and downs.

yeah pretty spot on there skizza. go to your photographics shop and grab a bunch of different films (cheap, expensive, everything inbetween) and just go nuts.
but try write down what you have done/did when you shot each one. that way u can get a sweet log of what films are dope and what isnt worth your time.

slide is a bit of a bitch. and it realllllly depends on where you get it processed as to how good the final results are. NEVER take it to a cheap chemist 1hour place to get it done, because you will end up with massively saturated pieces of crap lol. often very red or very blue. and it can be upsetting when u miss out on the shots you took. but yer, slide is a moody son of a bitch thats for sure.

and it works absolutely flawlessly. so stoked with it. now i might sell for profits lol

heres a shot I took with mah new fisheye2. Used film that expired in 1996. I took some shots with a 40-50 year old box brownie and cross processed slide film in it. Didn't come out well but hopefully they do next time!

my first attempt at a star trail when I was camping. Not too great, was a little too cloudy and too much ambient lighting from teewah beach over the other side of the lake!

So i decided to try something wack.

Set up my camera on my tripod, bulb, f 22, took a photo of my hard drive with my 50mm, turned the light off, sheet over the lense/camera... removed my lense, switched to my 10-20mm, focus infinity and removed the sheet. Sheet was to stop the sensor getting hammered with light... here is the end result...i think its friggin awesome

Have any of you guys tried taking pics with home made lenses?

i have tried that before hao, but with a very rudimentary box camera i had made too. results weren't very predictable to say the least haha, but makes for some interesting effects.

in short, try putting vasoline on your lens glass instead. i found the results were similar and easier/less time consuming. but i guess building stuff and seeing how it happens is half the fun of it!

Good shit man. I love processing black and white film...I haven't played around with black and white film in a while though. Post your pics up when you've processed / printed some off. :)

1600 is up the high end. you can get away with film speeds like that with really high end gear but consumer grade gear doesnt deal with it very well.

yep. Probably on auto + night time photos = grain
Mine does exactly the same. All you can really do for night shots is get a tripod, take the ISO down and increase the shutter speed.

A better model camera should produce less noise with a high ISO as a rule of thumb.

i use the tokina 10-17mm fisheye to super wide angle zoom on my nikon... love it.
wouldnt have anything else.

im getting a canon 550d, guessing tokina is only nikon ? i want the fisheye for portraits aswell as a 50mm f1.8

no, tokina makes lenses for canon as well.

canon makes a 10-22mm but it is not fisheye... and has crazy unappealing barrel distortion throughout the zoom range... which i find unappealing.

id say give the tokina a look.
search for tokina 10-17mm on flickr and look at some images taken with it.

There are parts with the edit I'm not heaps keen on anymore, I think maybe over did it with the blue and purple gradients. Lens flare needs some work, etc. But I'm just practicing my PP now as thats where I'm lacking knowledge/skills so this came out alright I think.

I think the top two work well as a set for sure, don't know if that was your intention though, if it was they're all sweet! But I think you could have come away with a really epic photo if the second one had have been a fair bit tighter/closer with shorter DOF, would've been great with that background, composition and the snow flicking up around the boarder but then again I don't know what lense/s you had on hand and how you could have dealt with the glare of the snow so hard to say you 'could/should' have done anything different.

Never have the side of the car you are shooting in shadow, its kills all the details and you cant see the car!

Take some from the other side with the front wheels turning slightly away from the camera exposing the spokes a bit.

After the race and the course car had been through we absolutely pissbolted down to the Finish line and to the presentation ceremony. Fastest ive ever had to run holding two cameras and a bag of gear.

Canon 7d - F22 - 25 second exposure. The far lights are noosa. Near ones are Coolum.
