Just got this for free off my sister. Just something to daily so I can wait until something good comes up for drifting.
It's a 1993 L200RS Daihatsu Mira. I personally believe the RS stands for "Racing Sport" as it totally kicks ass.
totally stock with just over 200,000K's. Was owned by my Great Aunt before my sister, So every service has been kept up to date etc.
Future plans are:
-De-sticker
-Take the side molds off
-Take badges off
-Make it look clean
-L700 coilovers from later model.
-Some form of low offset 13's (i have no idea how to use yahoo.jp)
-ASTRO TURF ROOF....for the hehe's and haha's.
-Some form of 2 inch exhaust with an up swept pipe at the back.... also for the lol's.
Here is it's state currently in my garage.

copy the part that is the img at the ends.

or copy the "direct link" and click the little photo icon in the box that you reply in.

what size engine that thing got? must be little!

oh and get some tyre blackener on that front bar asap! or paint it white...either way faded isn't the greatest:P

cool car though, must be cheap on petrol.

re: wheels

i think these are 110PCD like the L70V miras, so finding wheels is a prick. yahoo have a few 7J Mk I's but otherwise not a lot to choose from. ideally, getting the hubs welded and redrilled to 114.3PCD would be a much better option as it opens up a whole heap of wheels

Pidgey
18th January 2010, 11:31 PM
Yeah, I'm thinking of sanding it back a little with wet and dry and tire blacking it.
Didn't think of spraying it same colour but now that you say it, would be pretty nice.
and yeah, 695cc 3 cylinder injected :) loves it. It only weighs a touch under 600Kg though so it pulls decently.

welding and re-drilling sounds expensive. maybe. not sure, i don't want to spend tooooo much on it.

alternatively, you could order 13" superlites with 110PCD ;)

also, i reckon cut out the slits in the grill. sweet score otherwise

Pidgey
18th January 2010, 11:46 PM
Mmm, superlights may look a little wierd. but if it's the only easier way then meh, i wont mind :) would look cool with stretch and some offset anyway.
cutting grill may look good now you think of it.

cool car man, going to save heaps in petrol. that thing would probably run on fumes.

The Drifthatsu had quite an eventful day. I gave it a wash, cut and polish, blackened the bumpers and cut the top slits out of the grill. IMO looks pretty good. needs fitment and low now :D then I'll be pretty happy with it. Maybe nardi and massive dildo shifter haha. pics:

Well I have been thinking about it. would look awesome on its tiny nuts with 13x8's and a handful of stretched. Also thinking of oil cooler out the front :) would be hilariously cool.

13x8's LOL 14 x 7 with 155 55.

Sell it to me :) do it.

Pidgey

AJPS sells superlights in 13x8 with my stud pattern, that's where I got the idea.
If you're lucky..

go the 13x7 superlites.

Kid Karola
2nd February 2010, 06:21 AM
And good luck fitting a 13x7 -7 (let alone 13x8 +3!) Because this is what a 13x5.5 +37 (http://www.rs-watanabe.co.jp/userspage/ogura_mira.htm) 155/60R13 looks like.
(Remember OEM fitment is only 12x4.5 +43 to 13x4.5 +45)

Superlites 13x6 (+9,+13,+23) look much better than the 14x6 (+12,+18,+26)
http://performancewheels.com.au/images/big_13x6.0GTR13p.jpg
(GTR Version pictured)

Compared to the 13x5.5 +37 Watanabe's...
13x6 +9 stick out 34mm further
13x6 +13 stick out 30mm more
13x6 +23 stick out 20mm more
So either way your going to need to pump/flare front guards and cut out the rear arches to fit a decent set of 6's

Ok, so wheel choices are a negative.
May be getting rid of this anyway, something else has come up that suites me more.

Although, I may make the car I'm looking at just a weekender and make this a daily. But I already have a good daily, as shit as it is (ae82 sedan)

Pidgey

Ummmmm. Nope. Car has been at a mechanics for the last week, getting new studs put in. Assholes that did it's rubber last cross-threaded them with a rattle gun.

Umm, i still drive this! lol.
I FOUND THEEESEEEE!!!!! (http://page21.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/j95736085)
Hot damn they are cool. And within price range. Can anyone tell me how long they have to go?
And how much I would have to pay all up in shipping etc?
PLEASE. I really want these.
Edit: Have already sent email to Jesse streeter.

6 days to go is all it says, no end time.

BUUUUUUUUUT. They won't fit your car. you need the goofy mazda 4x110 stud pattern found on early cars like cosmos and rx4 or whatever. It's in the header and I confirmed it in the specs under pitch. Says suit savana RX-7(S1), which are 4x110. S2 and S3 are 4x114.3

ill-minded
13th August 2010, 12:09 AM
L200 miras are 4x110 btw.

they still won't really fit though, because they're gonna be pretty mexican. only way they'd fit comfortably is if you bought some flares or welded more metal to the guards. marv had 6J +10~15 and he needed to molest his guards a fair bit and dial in a fair bit of camber to get them to fit.

Fusion
13th August 2010, 12:13 AM
Huh Skylar? Your saying he needs 4 x 110 PCD and than saying the advert says its 4 x 110PCD? lol

If they are the right stud pattern, which it looks like 4 x 110, they might be fairly wide at 7". Probably need to weld on metal flairs or get fiberglass ones. Guessing the offset won't help either

Not trying to discourage you though, just making sure you know what your in for haha

Edit: Hehehehehe Ill beat me

i should add that if you do flare the guards out or put bolt ons on, it will look badarse. also try and find some 145/60R13 or 145/65R13 to put on them

Maybe see if you can get those from Japan at the same time. Been told its not easy to do though. Jesse quoted about 900 - 1000 for 13" Advan Neova's I think by themselves. Said it could be cheaper if attached to wheels

ill-minded
13th August 2010, 12:39 AM
apparently hankook make a tyre in 145/60R13 and 145/65R13, but i'm not sure if they're still available, or if they're available at all in australia. "optima K715" if you want to ask a few tyre places if they can get them in.

but yeah, importing tyres from japan is generally not worth it unless they're already attached to wheels and coming over via a container...

... or you're rolling in gratuitous amounts of money

Oh, these things are 4x110?

To tell you the truth I just popped in here wondering what a difthatsu was going to be thinking it was a charmaint. Had no idea L200 was a model code of a Mira.

I'll leave and go back to nissan world now.

Pidgey
13th August 2010, 09:10 AM
^hahaha.
I do know what I'm in for. Marv's Mira only poked because his had to be legal looking, therefore a lot less negative camber on the rear, and not much stretch at all. I will run about -3 to -3.5ish? Will look into getting a camber shim/ wedge made rather then chopping up subframe. I will probs weld KE70 front guards on, as I already have them. Will need help though, as I am totally shithouse at welding.
This car does not have to be "legal" :) I've been pulled up twice driving a friend's cortina, 80mm clearance from the exhaust, loud as balls, etc, etc. didn't even have my licence on me once, and all they did was say "nice corty", breath test me, and drive away. Cops in my part of town are very very cool.
Will get some 155/55 too, or 165/55?... As hard as it will be. I can justify paying for it as I probably won't go through them that much and it will look INCREDIBLE. This will get coilovers too, depending on how hard they are to find/ price.

marvis
13th August 2010, 10:52 AM
Camber shim won't work. I think I had around -3.5 on rear.

LOL how shithouse are the rear guards? You will need to move them up a little also.

Coilovers were around 1200+ landed from memory.

ill-minded
13th August 2010, 01:50 PM
if legalities are not a concern, or chopping things, then go nuts with the wheels haha.

skylar - don't worry, a lot of people assume these are 4x100 haha

That's devastating. What options other than cutting rear subframe do I have for rear camber?
Rear guards are SO shit. I'm not too sure how I'm going to go about welding rear guards on. We'll see, I guess, maybe.
Coilovers sound reasonable, do you have a link?

ill-minded
13th August 2010, 06:16 PM
you shouldn't need to cut the subframe, only slightly elongate the trailing arm holes. the other method of getting camber is just lower it more :P unfortunately, the swingarms hit the chassis before you can get much of a drop. marv knows aaaall about this. brrrrrrrrrm CLUNK!

your best bet is gonna be get some more camber happening and cut out the rear guards and weld some new metal on.

i love that all these problems with the rear guards are non existent on the L70 miras :P i just dump the rear end and roll the guards out a bit and i'm laughing

Pidgey

How do L70 guards differ from L200 guards?
I didn't think they were that different.

ill-minded
15th August 2010, 12:59 PM
they're a lot deeper (height wise that is) from the lip of the guard to the top of the wheel well. a lot more space for tyres, so they're less likely to scrub on bumps or when turning :) the trailing arms also have a lot more clearance to the chassis, so once again, no mashing the metal bits when run very low.

weooow. I didn't think they were that different. you lucky man :)

Well, at the moment it is in my garage, collecting dust.
I just bought a skyline, so this will be on hold until i get defected/ write off said skyline.
I also made some steel plates to go under the rear wheels macca's tray style. Works wonders and sparks are cool.
