cool , so this is going to be tracking it yes?

id deffinatly be looking at getting some stock tail lights to haha.

shift_rook
23rd January 2010, 07:15 AM
those alteazza lights are bloody cheaper than stock lights, though it might be different if you live in japan.... you bastard. lookin sweet though man, keep this updated, how much you pay for it?

ae71
24th January 2010, 11:03 PM
yes will be track and street....

why stock tail lights? dont like the crystal ones?

yeah stock ones are hideously cheap (about $10pr). think i might take out the clear square headlights and put in crappy ones with no grill.

think i think its hitting boost cut :(

was going to autobachs today and booted it going threw traffic lights, started chalking 2nd and some old dude was pushing his bike across the road. he stopped right there in the middle of the road and was just staring at me. had to come to a compete stop before he would keep going or would or ran him over....

front FRP lip turned up today wooooo.

nice stuff arron

how much were lock spacers or were they just the the slip on washers?

ae71
20th February 2010, 11:25 PM
cheers, 5mm slip on each side.. but they are cheap/easy so when not :)

just brought full 5stud kit with 4/2pot calipers

Dan_J
21st February 2010, 11:25 AM
ah thats true, cheap and easy always works :P

you can get bolt on lock spacers that are at least 10mm +, d-max do one

ae71
25th February 2010, 04:00 PM
might get some super tie rods which have a spacer built in plus you can use a lock spacer ontop of that. i have a supplier who i can get some cheeeep cheep

think i need to get rid of the annoying 190ish kay speed cut. also the stock brakes kinda suck, prob standard spec pads dont help but i was expecting more.

*updates*

its now sporting maximum low on the front coilovers and 10mm from max low at the rear. hang ring just clears the road which is how its ment to be i think lol

oh and front lip painted/fitted i actually almost approve of how it looks now.

brought koyo twin core radiator

brought 5stud hubs 4/2pot brakes

still need to get tyres for the front, lsd and some eyelet bolts so i can put my harness in.

ae71
26th February 2010, 04:21 PM
thanks Todd, its really nothing special its basically stock but im quite happy with it.

one thing that i really notice from the corolla is because it actually has rubber on the road its so much faster to slide, how you can kick the backend out and use the throttle to get around the corner. soo much more grip and control when sliding then im used to haha.

any updates aaron?

ae71
20th March 2010, 02:21 AM
yes, small update.

Koyo twin core radiator fitted and the rest of the cooling system flushed. normal temp is around 4~5deg lower now. will see the difference on the touge/track.

all items brought for 5stud conversion now!

another set of wheels brought

eye bolt/plate turned up yesterday so ill bang the harness in prob tomorrow.

also hit a guard rail at the local touge, mashed park light and guard. kicked guard back into shape, taped over the scratches with black cloth tape and kept sliding. the next night i just popped a wheel into one of those deep gutters, reversed out no worries but futher mashed the front fibreglass lip. out came the zippie ties and went about sliding again.

was taking a heap of chicks for passenger rides, didnt get any booty action out of it but it was fun none the less haha.

next will be some new front tyres for 17s then smash the new brakes in. then LSD wooo

next drift day is at meihan on the 22nd (monday). might have someone there with a vid camera which will be nice.

8th April 2010, 04:34 AM
fail!!!

camera man didnt turn up :(

not much in the way of updates, tie rod gave way whilest drifting on the touge so had to cut the night short and drive home at a rahter slow pace home. swapped out for another strait one today so drives fine again.

seem to be driving a fair bit lately, front lip has really copped it, busted a headlight also trying to link corners in the wet, found that with extra boost it will do it in the dry too! can see why these cars are popular haha

HOPEFULLY will be dropping the lsd off to be fitted to a spare diff tomorrow/friday. need to get it in before a blow up the motor or write off the car lol.

ae71
20th April 2010, 05:25 PM
waiting for a call for my LSD to be set-up in a carrier *taps foot impatiently*

brought :
25mm steering wheel spacer
de-cat pipe so i can get more noise/ twin carrot popping action hehehe
front tyres

they should be semi decent tyres so should be rocking 17's all round soon. also means my brakes/5stud will be going in soon after. just have to get some free time and some fine weather.

fucked my hands up so cant work on car (or fit tyres) until the skin grows back properly.

went for skids last night, being the lead car of a pack of 6 or 7 is something rather new to me haha! bit of pressure but its good none the less.

Its a stock with a lip i think

ae71
3rd May 2010, 02:13 AM
thanks guys!!

i put anouther ~1 degree camberon the front today, prob need to make it a bitlower and pull it back out + a bittoget the fitment i want

its a stock front bar with clear indicators and front lip. i dont like body kits much

on a side not i mowed down some fucker on a push bike.

score is
s13 - 1
cyclist - 0

so i spent the past 5 hours dicking around with cops, they where fairly good about it all. but either way im a bit fucked. ill either get a fine or pay his medical bills (and replace his stupid bike).

he stabbed a hole threw the number plate with the bolt that holds the front wheel on, it left the plasic cap from the bolt in the number plate. will have to post a pic sometime. shit blows though as i prob wont be doing much in the way of drifting for a bit as every cent will be going to cover this shit.

ill-minded
3rd May 2010, 04:19 PM
haha nicely done. i'm assuming it's not too bad as he's not dead.

car's looking sweet though. could use some spacers on the back, but still looks sweet. clean, simple S13's always look better in my opinion though.

ae71
3rd May 2010, 07:05 PM
nah i dont think he was hurt much thank fuck. looked like he brused his hand and think he rattled the scon tin a bit but nothing a nights sleep and a panadol wont fix (i hope). havent heard from the family yet as to how he is going or which way it will be handled.

not to sound like a prick but is still not going to be good for my wallet (i.e. skids).

bigm
4th May 2010, 10:56 AM
Digging the simplicity man, good shit.

I once hit a cyclist. I duno about over there but here they think they own the road. and are always in the right it seems. Unluccky man.

ae71
4th May 2010, 03:26 PM
thanks dude.

another big reason for stock bars is they are super tough, as you can probaly see, i do actually drive this car so they are very practical in that sense.

the front lip is a cheap frp item, its rther second hand now, cracked, chipped and held on one side with a cable tie sling style but i genuinely dont care haha. loves it.

still needs more low, bit concerned about the sump on the touge as some areas are really bad, it may bottom out on the sump/x-member.

or different mounts if u want to do it properly?

ae71
9th May 2010, 09:28 PM
its sorted with the little barstard. has cost me a LOT of drifting :peek:

ive been here 6months now

spacing could be an option, coilovers are already on max low and scrub the front inner splash guards under heavy braking, so they would need to be removed and helper springs removed to get it lower. rear needs spacers also. actually would just like nicer wheels but they are a bit expensive and hard to justify.

yer my gf is doing a uni course and in a few years she has to to move to Japan for a year so im probably going to go with her, she will be able to teach English since she has already done a course and went to Japan for it last time, btw sorry for offtopic talk

i noticed you also got a set of stock tail lights, looks alot better imo, clear lights just make a car look cheap.

ae71
10th May 2010, 02:39 PM
one thing i do like about the crystal lights is they did make the car look a lot tider and 'nicer'. even though they arnt super expensive, even for descent ones they are still like ~$100ish here. i think i brought stock ones for about $7 each +shipping lol. so yeah they are good for smashing and its a silvia so its nor really ment to look 'nice'

went out for skids again last night, tyres are ready to be flipped, rear cambers ftw haha.

yes rear camber helps with the skids i think. inside is down to wear markers so need flipping. i didnt realise how much smoke i actually make until when i turned around to go back down the hill last night and there was a strange white fog hovering around the road hahaha.

these new tyres havve copped maybe 2~3 hills sessions and maybe about the same in the wet. they loves it!! new tyres FTW

haha yeah, love it. about the only thing with driving it that reminds me that im not driving a grans camry. such a tame car in basically every way.

after driving corollas for so long a stock silvia seemed like a rocket ship, admittedly when i first got it the previous owner did have the boost controller turned up a long way. i find stock power fairly boring now for street. however from my sh*t box skidding days i still drift it on low boost.

Ouch. Should come back up with a new headlight, a hammer, and some rattle can black :)
I love this car. Not because it's incredibly low, or has insane fitment, or lots of work done to it, but because it's so functional and it actually gets driven. Hard. And occasionally into things :)

thanks Mav, it was purely cosmetic which is good.

yeah man i have a set of strait panels but no point using them until i sell it. thats exactly what the plans are, brought another headlight last night and have spare park lights. bumper def not getting painted, looks tough with the scratches. funny thing is a week before i broke the park light the week before at the same spot, was going to replace it but then thought, eerr might wait until after tonight, good thing i did or i would have busted another fresh parker strait out. would have been $5 down the drain. :P

yes this car gets driven, no i care very little to what it looks like.

oh and i removed the hang ring about a month ago, its not low and its not on 15" wheels.... i felt guilty about it. i was considering getting some 5stud ssr meshies in 15" just for posing wheels but i cant be fucked changing all 4 wheels for drifting, and i dont drive it about all that much unless im going to see the missus.

btw this car will be for sale in a month or so.

will have 5stud all round, some fresh strait panels and ~6months shaken/rego/tax left on it and matching set of 17s wheels with freshish rubber.

this is GONE!! bye bye.

was fun while it lasted but now its back to the toyota game.

for anyone who bags nissans (i was one of them) if you want to drift then buy one. cheap and easy to set-up. i wouldnt totally rule out getting another one day if i decide i want to get back into drifting.

im back in aus. spidy is right, its just garden variety beat up POS

not much point in buying a posing car like that over there. nissans are cheaper to buy, set up and fix when you stack. even if you do skid, where i was a bigger 4door just isnt suitable for mountains and less then ideal on meihan.

ke70 is basically a direct translation to slivia.... because i sold my ke70 about brought this car with the money i got from it!

considering the specs and what others had been advertised at it wasnt all that expensive, first guy to see it brought it.

oh and the silvia i brought was only a fraction of the price that they are in aus, nissans are taxed
