Welcome Ladies and Gentiles,
I've been kicking on these forums for years, just never really had heaps of input..
The name is Pete, and i reside in the humble surroundings of the seventh largest city in Australia.

Here's the four wheels that assist me in transportation around the aforementioned humble surroundings.
As these 1980's pieces of machinery go, all the basic necessities had been replaced in the following 12 months. So modifications came later down the track as keeping petrol in the fuel tank was more in my realm of realistic prospects.. As far as modifications go, I'm rolling on bare essentials, but it's enough to put a smile on my face, and put a frown on everyone elses. It's a piece of shit rreeally. Pictures are an obvious illusion.
Enjoy, you enthusiasts.

Specs:
VERY BASIC

General:

It has rego?

Suspension:
Rear:

GT Monroe shocks
4.5kg/190mm free height, TRD springs

Front:

GT Monroe shocks
6kg/185mm free height?, Lovell Springs
86 front end (struts, steering arms, brakes)

Rolling Stock:

002's, 15x8 -+ 0 offset.
Bridgestone R5000 rubber on the front.
Simex shitters on the rear.
195/50/15 all round.

Power:

7kwatw, easily.

Future Modifications:
Petrol, panhard, sway bars, Nolathanes, power steering arms, roll centre adjusters, camber tops, strut braces, straight pipe, racks, Venetians, fender mirrors, lower, wider, laughter.

Further Usless Information:
It has a super reliable stock 4k-c, that gets me from A to B with perpetual perfection. It revs hard, sounds surprisingly naughty, and is fairly frugal with the juice. Diff remains unlocked. And please for the love of god, don't tell me to put a 4A-GE in it. It's a downright obvious desire. Maybe if i take it off the road in the future, it'll see an SR.

A Big props to my man Somboon at Deadstock for the happy snaps. Killer behind the lens and would recommend anyone to take advantage of his services. They extend further then photography. Speaking from experience, naturally.

One Love.

Thanks for the kind words lads!
I know it's nothing too exciting, it's only a daily driver, but its a bit of fun!

Juturna, Headlight covers my man! just something im mucking around with at the moment, just trying to carve a bit of my own style into it.
Course_out, yeahh, im everywhere around newy. haha! Should catch up for a bevy!

I've got some 25mm spacers for the rear, and some 8mm for the front. Just gotta do some guard work to fit them.. Some racks and Venetians on the way too. Should be aesthetically pleasing fairly soon.

UPDATE: Putting in AE86 Struts.

Ive spent the past couple of days putting in some AE86 Struts, LCAs, Steering arms, Rotors, Calipers, Brake lines, New shocks and springs into the front of the KE70..

It has been on my 'to do' list since I got the car, as I had been running chopped springs previously to match the height of the rear of my car.

I'm not much of a mechanic, but i think the best way to learn is just getting stuck in and having a go!

As any modification goes, I do a lot of research to make sure I have all the appropriate parts to carry out the job.
http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/dcimages/1/0/9/5/37815.jpg

First step is to get the car in the air and on some stands.
http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/dcimages/1/0/9/5/37816.jpg

But even that can sometimes be difficult! Not the best way to start the day.. Mutilated wheel nut. But thanks to a bit of WD40, and a hammer and chisel it came off with relative ease..
http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/dcimages/1/0/9/5/37817.jpg

Meet some of my friends:
http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/dcimages/1/0/9/5/37818.jpg

Getting the struts and LCAs out. Notice my super duper brake fluid catchment rig.
http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/dcimages/1/0/9/5/37819.jpg

Doing a bit of a clean up on the rotor backing plate. Before and After. Often on other cars, people leave these off. But they are vital here, as they also act as the caliper brackets. I also did a quick spray job on the struts, but I don't have any piccys of that..

http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/dcimages/1/0/9/5/37821.jpg

Ready to go in. The Shocks are normal stroke, so unfortunately my springs wont be captive until the car is on the ground. The KE70 top hats are also retained.
http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/dcimages/1/0/9/5/37822.jpg

Everything in!
http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/dcimages/1/0/9/5/37823.jpg

Back on the ground. And a rough wheel alignment.
http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/dcimages/1/0/9/5/37824.jpg

The height now. Itll be lower after the new sussy settles. So it should be low enough I think. Its definitely not low by you guys standards, but the benefit of running 15s is plenty of clearance for daily efforts!
http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/dcimages/1/0/9/5/37825.jpg

Went for a drive around the block, and everything seems to be working well.. Massive improvement over the stock cutties obviously.

Big ups to Clint and Brad and JDM Imports for the parts. And a bigger ups to some mates of mine for all their help in the process! Brentos drove me everywhere, lended tools and machinery when it was needed! Legend..

It's going in to my mechanic for a proper wheel alignment, and general check up on Wednesday to make sure everything is all good. Ill also grab some new front tires and a wheel balance aswell. Then it'll be hunky dory!

Cheers, Pete.

UPDATE: Wheel Alignment + General Check up.

Post putting in the suspension gear I thought it would be wise to take it down to my mechanic to make sure everything was in check. My brakes were a bit spongy too because I can't bleed brakes at home properly! The boys fixed up the brakes and said everything else was just right, too easy!

I also got some new front tyres because my old ones were shagged from never getting a proper wheel alignment! I opted for some Yokohama A - Drives because that was basically the only decent, reasonably priced tyre they had in my size. (195/50/15) But I think they'll do the job just fine though.
http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/dcimages/1/0/9/5/37826.jpg

While they were at it, they gave the car a solid wheel alignment, because it was in desperato need of one! The car had roughly 16mm toe out on each side! It was horrible.
http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/dcimages/1/0/9/5/37827.jpg

http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/dcimages/1/0/9/5/37828.jpg

http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/dcimages/1/0/9/5/37829.jpg

These were the final Adjustments.
Front:
Castor: +2.5
Toe: +0.5
Camber: -1.0

Annd, thats about it!
Feels super tight, and goes straight! Bump Steer is basically eliminated but I can definitely feel the need for a nice swaybar though! So that'll be my next mod.

Cheers, Pete.

wack a couple of holes in the spring seats and thread some fuck off big cable ties through the hole and over the lowest coil of the springs. that way when you accidently go over a speed bump at 60km/h your springs won't bounce out :P
Or you could do the same thing with wire instead of the cable ties just twist it up with your pliers like a bread bag tie
