TIOS cars were customised by Tsuchiya, Iida, Orido and Suga. These are the TIOS Trueno (HKS turbo kit) and Levin demo cars from the Tokyo Auto Salon 2000. Basically you supplied car and paid 2 Million Yen ($20000) and got it back like so...

They also did GT-R, 200SX and Civic...

Anyway back to Iida's masterpiece...

that last vid was great to watch, love how Tsuchiya cheats, that guy's car had much more balls though

Well Iida's Gr.A 20V had 217PS (metric HP) so 214HP vs. Tsuchiya's AE111 175HP, so about +40 horses so definitely had the legs! Keiichi's car also had tall gearing a 5.1 final drive which assisted acceleration on the short tight course. I'm just surprised Akira let Manabu drive it after breaking his gearbox in Option2 #32 :P I guess they were good mates as well as team mates in JGTC after all.

Not really a fan of the 18" Advan Racing 2 wheels here.
Much prefer the dishy 17" Advan Oni or 16" Volk TE37's
(16/17's to clear 4-pot Brembo 350mm front discs & R32-GTR 2-pot and rear discs)

TBH, I always thought 17's/18 would look homo-as on a 86.

I actually dont mind them.:)

I noticed early in the first vid that the intake cam pulley is a Toda vvt eliminating unit, but on the dyno and after its a TRD without the VVT bump? Similar to 16v pulley.
Its not super aggressively cammed either, 288&294 (TRD rally cams?) however I would assume lift to be in the 10mm+ region.
Can't find any detail on those camshaft's in the TRD bible.
Interesting to see they chose the M4 over local ecu's,(Freedom etc) with AE86 ignitor and coilpack.

KK have you got a breakdown of engine components? Google is vague.

Being silvertop 20V - you need to look up the Group A AE101 20V-4AGE section of the TRD Corolla Bible for the parts list.
Pretty much everything is TRD, but some TODA and custom parts. I'll try to decipher as much as I can and list.
Suspension is all Cusco: Formula Link (Equal Rear. LCA & CR, ARB etc) and Kei-Office custom setting coilovers F/R: 12K, 8K.

http://club4ag.com/images/IIda%20Ae86/100.jpg

Correct the VVT on inlet eliminated. The IN/EX: 288/294 duration (10.2 lift). Although the race engines with 304/312 (10.8) were capable of 250hp revving to 11000rpm, Iida's is limited to 9000 redline @ 210hp for engine preservation :P
MoTec M4 ECU is a superb unit (but proabably out of the price range of most Corolla tuners $3000+Dash logger!) When we first saw this vid, was so cool to see an Aussie ECU used in Japan (too bad they fried the 1st one :bones: ) but as you said it has many functions that are redundant on this setup.

(Frak translate this page (http://max.eshizuoka.jp/e92985.html) you'll laugh!)

Nishikawa came to the motorcycle shop where I had been working to buy tires.
The man who had gotten VFR-400R (1989 model) said,
"Please give me the tire that grip most".
At that time "YOKOHAMA 003" assumed to be the best was recommended.
Nishikawa came to the shop three days later.
"Please give the same tire as the other day to me. "
What?!? I looked. Both sides of the tire were worn completely!
Tires were exchanged, and I asked where he rode.
"Highway 1 in the country"
I went up to Hakone by the car on that evening. To see the car that drove
insanely fast in the corner (nostalgia~) and the motorcycle were looked at.
The second headlight, I was blown away at his speed. Quite different from the others.
It is Nishikawa. It was a speed that deviated from common sense!
Nishikawa came to buy tires again three days later!
"Please give the tire to me."
Do you race!
"Are you serious?"
If Hakone runs, you'll probably die.
"There isn't that, I ran for a circuit"
I was concerned/watched for trouble!

haha :yeah:

Akira set an amazing production car lap-time of the Nürburgring Nordschleife at 7.14:64 OEM Bridgestone Potenza RE070 tyres.
It was pipped by monster 510ci (8.4l) Dodge Viper ACR 7.12:13 a fortnight later on Michelin Cup Sport tyres.
Just shy of the hyper-car Gumpert Apollo Sport 7.11:57 (4.2l twin-turbo)
