it doesnt seem to reach the brakes? just points in their general direction :)

good work man, good to see someone getting out there :)

yeah its just to help the brakes a lil bit, they were a last minute job the night before but will be redone before the march sprint day. hoping to have coil overs by then too. had really average tyres and was skating between under and over steer. on the bright side, never came off and never put it round.

it'd be great to have a few more ae86dc boys out there, doesnt cost much n is a heap of fun, cheers for the comments

what are the requirements for getting your car out there? it looks like alot of fun!

mrbigport
24th February 2010, 09:50 PM
requirements are long clothing, an approved helmet and a track/roadworthy car...and going off some of the starions out there that doesnt count for much lol

timbo
25th February 2010, 08:57 AM
excellent, i am really considering this 6th of march event. only problem is i don't own a helmet... maybe ill hit up a second hand one.

any advice mr bigport? i assume you bring extra fuel etc?

mrbigport
25th February 2010, 10:12 AM
i just fill up at the servo just down the road from the track, because its sprints you do 1 out lap, 5 hot laps, and 1 cool down per session - normally 4 sessions of about 9 minutes so a 4age doesn't use a tank in 40mins...well you'd hope not lol

as for a helmet just make sure it conforms to aust std AS/NZS1698 which most motorbike helmets will conform to.

I'd also say make sure your tyres are pretty good. I'm using 14x205's just street tyres not semi slicks or anything, and I was finding massive amounts of understeer and a fair whack of oversteer through turns 3&4 and 6&7 and that was with the following setup

front:
3deg neg camber
3deg caster
1mm per side toe in
ma61 rims (14x7) with 5mm spacers
adm ae86 struts and brakes with new pads and rotors
low king springs with pedders shocks
ra40 control arms and adjustable castor bars

rear:
low king springs
monroe shocks
std ke70 diff (open centre)
std panhard rod - driveline confirmed centered
ma61 rims running 195's and 20mm spacers

car is gutted with just a fibreglass seat and top skin of the dash pad, managed to get the weight down to about 850kg

if you want any more info please feel free to ask, i'm more than willing to share any information i can to help get more people on track.

so who's comming on saturday??

So how did it go?

mrbigport
7th March 2010, 11:35 AM
rained out...
turns 2 3 4 and 6 were all a case of drive between the red and yellow flags, there was actually flowing water, not just the normal QR swimming pools
ill bang up a few fresh pics of the car soon though
