It's a 150E as mentioned above, not a 3K-'R'.
Not a production motor. Not by a long way.
Also although 'R' is a correct, albeit seldom used Toyota engine code suffix, it denotes low compression for countries with poor RON fuel, not 'Race'.

Yes they're not exactly common, it's like trying to find information on the 151 and 152 E (2T-G and 18R-G based race engines respectively). It's quite scarce.
But yes, mechanical injection and slide throttles FTMFW.

in theory they are better.
at WOT the air does not have to split and go around the butterfly. and we all know how air doesn't like to be disturbed.
