currently lookin for some cheap 15x7/8 rims for this car. although this is just a runaround, so not like its a big priority or anything.

i honestly (without wanting to start a shitfight) prefere mid engine cars over FR cars so much, but this car just lacks power compared to my trueno, and also is a bit rough around the edges... otherwise i would be modifiying the aw11.

got plenty of love for aw11s too man. like a jdm gt-apex with more options for interior etc for such a low price. aw11 even turn a few heads. pretty fun to own and VERY good value for money i think. the only car to really beat it for value for money is a sw20 mr2 or r33gtst.

fantastic car to drive! i really like the feel of no power stearing but with no motor up front it has loads of feed back.

somthing cool about the seating position as well, its like you can see the apex so well with the angle of the bonet just turn in and hit it every time.

but your right the bigports are just not up to the task, ZE for my vote!!

Tim: yes the steering is perfect due to no power steering, yet no engine at the front, its just... well something everyone should try, its great. and driver position is second to none. u sit nice and low and can still see right over the bonet line, even if ur short like me ! hey u got a photo of ur bro's old aw11 ?

The Kid: at this stage im "planning" wheels but i wont do it for a while. i have not been living in australia for some time, now im back in aus till july, so i find it hard to justify spending much on this (coz i already spent a bit on the trueno and will barely get to drive it). although my GF lives in melbourne, so i will visit a bit, so i might put in a turbo smallport 4age. i really have a thing for smallports, they are a great motor, so i would like one with turbo (aw11 weigh a bit more than ae86) and maybe 272 cams and high compression. would be awesome !

getting a custom 8 turbo set up... kind of like the twin turbo set up on a 2jz, so no lag... each turbo is smaller than the one before it, so basically it boosts at 1000rpm, then it hits 2000rpm and runs out of puff so the next slightly bigger turbo kicks in, and it keeps doing that (switching turbos each 1000rpm) till 8000rpm so it has no lag..... XZIBIT suggested this modification...

nar sorry dude no pics of my bros car, it was so clean though! was really well looked after completly stock. aus delivered and was red like yours. had another mate with a jap 4agze model it was fairly thrashed and it was awesome driving around with the roof removed! and ze all the way!!

had one other mate with a ze one and some simmons wheels, had it for around 1 month and it was stolen thrashed and they left it on blocks completly covered in motor oil inside and out! to make it impossible to trce finger prints..... such a shame because it was in very good condition.

man i love aw11's! ha ha i went on a mr2 cruise hear in sa with my bro and all the mr2 boys call the aw11 "the REAL" mr2, they have no respect for the sw20

changed the water temp sensor and spark plugs.

still runs pretty shit.

could exhaust leak be doing it ? i have a mandrel bent 2.25inch exhaust with one muffler and 1 cat.

because aw11 have such a short exhaust, could the loss in velocity have a big effect on scavenging ?

i used to use it as a "missile car" and not really care about it.

no shit i had 5 people crash into it in fuckin 2 years.
bought this car cheap for like 2.5k, and i claimed over 7.5k bills against peoples insurance companies, then fixed up the damage on the cheap.
spend proberly 200 of the 7.5k i claimed to fix up the car. lol.

infact i just recieved a direct deposit today from my lawyer for 4000 AUD today thanks to this car (i been in an 11 month legal battle with a taxi company that refused to pay me).

this car is so full of win... it handles amazing, its a great daily driver, and its made me heaps of money. lol.

but yeah, reccomend EVERYONE who enjoys driving to own an aw11 at least once in their life... mid engine cars are simply amazing !!

yeah im not a fan of drift, but i gotta agree with you. this has a 6 speed LSD box and it fuckin slides so well if you try.

different drift to a FR too, its like it can drift and accelerate foward at the same time, if that makes any sence.

taken it to the great ocean road a while ago and plenty of drifts were had lmfao.

people often criticise mr2s for "snap oversteer" but i gotta disagree, these things are so stable once you know how to drive them properly.

yeah i agree, NA is a big letdown. especially being a bigport and all.

i got a 4.5:1 ratio 6 speed LSD box in mine, so i reckon a nice rebiult smallport with some cams would be pretty fun.

man the TVIS 4ages feel not peaky att all, they run out of puff by 7000, it feels so bad lmfao, so i cant imagine 4agze being much worse. definetly gotta try a 4agze some day for sure.

well now im lucky to drive my cars once per year due to workin overseas, so i wont really mod them much anymore. but the gearbox is an ae111 six speed with the lsd. 4.5:1 ratio helps 4ages so much. with a 4.3:1 and a bigport is a bad combo, like the bigport is useless above 7k so i would change gears on 7k, then they just fall out of power band unless you do a good change. where as with the 4.5 ratio you can do a shit change and its still on power band.

if i come back to aus to study in the future, then i will have to rebuild the mr2s engine, so i would do a smallport and 272 cams for a nice mild setup (pretty simmilar to my trueno, thst got t series 4.5 ratio, smallport and mid range cams) should be heaps of fun.

Mine must have been oddly tuned then. It had no power up until 4000rpm and then it had an almost turbo-esque power increase and wouldn't let up until 8000rpm.

im a technical support and development specialist for asia pacific region of my company. i been working as that in aus for a few years and they promoted me to work in japan.

i dont want to waste my money on a car parking space (will cost me 500ish AUD per month) so if i bought a car i would keep it at my friends house in tokorozawa (Saitama) as he has house with a parking spot. one thing for sure tho, even if i buy a car im not driving it in japan because i dont leave tokyo, so no use as tokyos transport is the best in the world.

well for now no more cars, but if i come across a nice boxster S or honda NSX then im gonna buy.

but i do agree with you about aw11 being better than sw20, the weight difference is the key. and as for power, well a 4age turbo evens that out easy enough. my next aw11 will be turboed for sure.
