yeah.
Another point is that in tas travel times are bugger all. So have a look along the east coast. The weather seems a bit better on average, its pretty easy to pick up a few acres with your house, so you have some space to dick around in.
Saint helens seems like a good place, close to some REALLY sweet roads (which you would drive to get to launnie) and its what an hour to launnie?
Orford is pretty much the same deal only closer to hobart!

If you need the indoor velodrome then Launceston it is. Hobart has an outdoor bike track (Newtown), they have regular practice and events. Or there is road racing on relatively flat streatches of road near Richmond. Or get fit and join us in the hills around hobart. There is a social group ride on most days starting from a bike shop or some place.

Hobart has Baskerville, Launceston does not.

lol cerby, i hate them probably as much, for the most part the casual commuter fuckers make us look really fucking shit.

johnny, fit has nothing to do with it lol, i just find road racing boring as shit. i dont enjoy hills. i like sprint racing and keirins and kilos.... hence indoor track is more interesting and usefull than hobart hills :)

yeah the commuters and the ones that go riding around the mountain are just the bike version of hoons!!!
They see their heros pedalling around france and think i'll go out and copy them!!! I think we should go and show them how we feel about the reckless selfish behaviour by locking up their bikes for 48 hours on the first offense!

hadspen is the MINTEST place to live, 5 mins from laun, 2 mins from the casino.
don't listen to these clowns they ain't nothin but haters.
launceston has symmons which is mint for circuit racing, and a good drift track but not as good as basky, basky is sick, but made up of 80 different kinds of road surface
in all honesty it depends what you wanna do work wise and where you want to live, in all honesty i just prefer laun cos it's in the middle, you can hook up to burnie for hillclimbs or most good hills are under an hour away, and hobart is only 2 hours.
hobart is a better, nicer place than laun, with less mike tysons, but i dunno, i prefer laun
what sort of line of work are you and your wife gunna look into (if thats not too personal)
hobart does have josh priseman tho...

i know a guy who just opened a bike hop in launy i could get some work with, and my wife is in high demand in her industry, and has been warmly recieved by the offices she has approached.

would be looking at the fire departnment at some point in the near future.

would really love like 10 or 15 acres about 20 km from laun.... much like that around?

If you want a semi rural place them it might pay to have a browse around on google earth. There's lots of little towns within half an hour of Launy where you can set yourself up with what you've decribed.

Launy is an old town (like older than most Aus capitals) so you're always going to find lots of cottage/victorian style housing which is expensive. Saying that though its not like you can't find a house under 5 years old.

And there is a rediculous amount (for the size of the city) of treddly shops in Launy so if thats what you're experienced in you should be able to find a cust pretty easy.

move to melbourne dawg

fantapants
6th April 2010, 09:30 PM
melbourne was the original plan - has been for a while. the racing is fucking rad, 2 indoor tracks and like a bazziollion outdoors :)

but im just turning into a moody old cunt and its just fuckers in citys that are killing me... and im sure they are all there in melbourne as well :)

and the really kool the thing for me and the mrs about the plan to move to tassie is there is a good chance we could find somewhere to buy and setup and be mortgage free... and thats a huge thing :)

don't you worry about the mortgage just worry about mint entries in your mint bus, otherwise you can get evicted from this state. i got home once and everything was gone, just a letter that said 'no scando entries at baskerville, no residence in tasmania. signed, the GVC'.
all my shit was on the spirit of tasmania.

it's tough here man, it's tough
