I picked up an old escort ages ago as a daily while I fix up my sprinter.
Mk2, 1600, everything dead stock.

I fixed some oil leaks and gave it some fresh paint. I think it turned out pretty well.

Mine is the bright one on the end. Other one is my mates.

Thanks dude :)

The power house is a bit lacking in the power department. But I can take a photo for shits. Will wait till there's some daylight.

Anyone here know escorts? I got some funky noises happening while I drive. Maybe diff, g/box or engine noises... takes about 30 mins of driving for it to start. Gave it new wheel bearings and the noise hasn't changed. I checked all the brakes for any kind of rubbing.

Noise is a whirring that seems consistant with the throttle. But also gets louder at times regardless of a change in throttle. :peek:

Cough*COSWORTH*cough.
Mint, I quite like the early-ish fords. Have a couple mates with TD-TC cortinas.

Sounds like it was a cool car. Shame to hear it met a grizzly end.

Thanks! I don't mind the old cortinas either. A YB cosworth engine would be unbelievable in the little pano! But the ae86 is where all my spare money goes so I think the escort will stay fairly stocko.

That's fair enough dude :)
If you ever wanted cheap power, could bolt in a pinto 2L. A mate had one in his TD, stock bottom end, ported+polished head, cam, breathing mods etc. Quite surprising how much power you can pull out of them, and they have a very usable torque range.

Would be nice to have the pinto to. I could have bought my mates 2l escort van project off him for pretty cheap... and I probably would have if I weren't still at uni. Although I've spent a fair bit of time now making the x-flow run nicely so It would be a shame not to use it now. The whole car is down to only one oil leak lol. . . the dreaded rear main.... hope to tackle that next weekend.

Good luck with the sale!

Brings back memories, I had a white one as a handmedown as my first proper road rego'd car on my Ps. Post 1977 emissions spec 1600 motor has a tyre shredding 46kw, fastest mine ever went was 145kmh, indicated, downhill, and it took a LONG time to get there!

Pretty well balanced though, nice steering, fun little cars.

Needs more forest arches and 13x8s
