stahlz_ae86
11th April 2011, 11:21 PM
There's alot of nice metallic browns on new cars, but I could only bring myself to paint a KE that colour if it was already beige or brown with the brown int.

Though there's something about white on a slanty front that's grown on me over the years, it's a real nice combination.

LittleRedSpirit
30th April 2011, 10:56 AM
Could only be so many things.

Does it crank?

Injectors have power? Put a light on the plug to see.

Grounds are good?

Have you got a full 12+ volts at the starter trigger wire when cranking?

Low Style
30th April 2011, 11:36 AM
it cranks but doesnt fire.
injectors have been checked and working.
grounds havent changed since it last ran
and its got a brand new coil now.

still doesnt want to turn over. willing to pay someone to fix it. i have done everything i can think of to get it running

LittleRedSpirit
30th April 2011, 12:25 PM
Hmmm, if it starts one day and not the next, perhaps there is a broken wire some place key to the ignition. Perhaps try and jiggle some power feeds, particularly the one that supplies the coil or test it with a different wire. Its usually something ridiculously simple if its intermittent, inspect the condition of the wiring I guess, untape it and look if it feels stiff or brittle, or like the insulation is loose on the wiring.

Who did you get the loom from? Did they have success with it?

Low Style
30th April 2011, 12:29 PM
A mate of mine did the loom for me he is coming over later today to have a look at it.

Put the car in to be tuned by ELITE AUTOMOTIVE in Archerfield.

Got word that a heater hose popped off and dropped coolant - not a problem easy fix
then got told spark plug fouled - no worries
then got told ecu fried itself and dropped a driver causing the engine to flood- ok so new ecu

then got told today the engine spun a big end bearing!! WTF

I do not and never will trust them, engine was fine when i dropped it off and only needed some light tuning to get it to run right.

pt_y2k
3rd April 2012, 08:54 PM

Sam from Razorback ecu (my ecu) told me they are good at tuning.

Shit happens, should be able to source what i need and build another 4age in the next few weeks. Gives me a chance to fix some things in the engine bay im not happy with atm.

Looking for:
head bolts
gasket kit
Wiring person to come and re wire my engine bay (i dont want to see wires going everywhere anymore)

LittleRedSpirit
4th April 2012, 09:07 AM
Man that sucks.

I know adaptronic are most likely going to replace your ecu at a real good price, I fried one once and they looked after me really well on the replacement ecu.

This is exactly why I do not trust tuning shops, tuners or anyone who doesn't have incredible credentials with my car. Its why I bought a wideband and a data logger and I do it all myself.

The other thing is, its always your car that went wrong. Like you bring them a sweet running car that needs tuning and somehow they fuck it, Id be considering a career in arson.

The haeater hose coming off, well thats your fault I guess. The fouled plug is from poor tuning and the cooked ecu its hard to say. Id be sending it back to Andy so he can tell you what has been done to it. If he says they mistreated it then Id be straight back down to elite with a bill for it. I cant imagine why it would blow up on the fly like that. I blew mine by powering the wrong circuit. Did they mess with your wiring any?

anastasios
4th April 2012, 09:15 AM
What fuel system are you using?

Low Style
4th April 2012, 01:44 PM
Matt - the ECU was wired up by the ECU guy himself - they also changed the injectors to better ones.

the ECU guys isnt who im annoied at its the shop owner, ECU guy took time out of his life to replace and fix my ecu under warrrenty and still providng me with decent info.

anastasios - atm just a standard fuel tank with VL fuel pump.

anastasios
4th April 2012, 02:22 PM
how did you wire the pump? are you using a COR?

Low Style
4th April 2012, 03:28 PM
via a relay, fused battery power to the pump, splice into the original fuel pump power wire and earthed.
