Does it make much difference trying to drift with 15's on a relatively stock 4age compared to 14's? Will be picking up an 86 and was thinking of what rims will be going on it. Will Be the first time I'm learning, car used mainly as a daily with a bit of sliding when I have the money. Prefer the look of 15's but don't want to get them if it's going to make it difficult to get spinning. Any one tried both and noticed the difference?

same effort to spin 15s to 14s. just depends on width. 175/65r14 will be easier to get going than a 195/50r15
i personally like the feel of 15s better, less sidewall flex at higher speed = longer slides. tyre pressure comes into play. but the higher tyre pressure you run the quicker you go through tyres.
but i have only been running 14s recently.

but to answer your question not much difference between 14s and 15s, espescially when learning.

I agree with Steroid Chook. When I went from 13s to 15s (both with random tyres) I noticed a big improvement. Things felt better and more predictable.

So I'd say go 15s. However if you're just getting into it and learning there are far bigger things to concentrate on (eg. practising as much as possible) than 14" vs. 15" wheels.

You will be fine with 15's.

14's are really for the look, I have only even drifted with 14's. I would go 14's on an AE86/KE70 though, 15's look wack most times.

It's all about tire pressures, tire sizes and suspension setup... and of course style and execution

buy my ae86 with a beams motor and you dont need to worry what tire size you run :P

I always run second hand tires but only used 15s once, they where so good though, consistently slippery till bald, didn't delam. The type/size/pressure of tire matters more than 13/14/15 in my opinion.

I use 15"s only for the fact i got a sr20det inside my ke70, the other day at E/C i was using 15"s and the had to go to 16"s due to thrashed tyres.. i realised the car didnt need to hit 3rd in the main corner stayed in 2nd the whole time but when using the 15"s i cracked 3rd... lil things do matter but with ur SITO i wouild prob stay 15"s

did you have exactly the same tyre width, and overall wheel+tyre size? were they the same brand/model??
Were the wheels the same design and same weight?

I reckon if you had all of these exactly the same, the difference would barely be noticable.
