selling a 180 for a ke.... why?

a. ke is cheaper to run
b. cheaper on insurance
c. spend the same amount of money that you would on a 180 and you'll have a faster ke
d. 4 door
e. cheaper parts
f. easier to work on by a long shot!

there are many more but those are off the top of my head

I agree with everything apart from C

hitoriko
6th February 2009, 11:19 PM

from personal experince:
a. ke is cheaper to run (in stock form)
b. cheaper on insurance (in stock form)
c. spend the same amount of money that you would on a 180 and you'll have a faster ke (safer? nup)
d. 4 door (ever tried fitting 4 people in a ke70?)
e. cheaper parts (in stock form)
f. easier to work on by a long shot! (in stock form)

not to mention all the other hidden stuff you gotta do too.
engineers, weaker ke70 body (compared to the s13)

i already spent quite abit of money on my ae71, altho if i did take shortcuts and did some dodgys it would have been alot more cheaper.. now that i think of it i would have reather done a s13... or with todays prices a wrx

I don't want to turn this into a best bang for buck car contest but WRX would be on the bottom of my list

my girlfriends rex cost 12k, it handles pretty well in stock form, but you can only really have fun with it on dirt! otherwise you need more power or just have to enjoy straight line acceleration a whole lot! to get more power and better brakes (something they lack in stock form) would cost you another $5k to do right, and it still wouldn't be a weapon...

cheapest option for serious drift in order from cheapest to dearest IMO
S13
KE70/AE71
AE86
S14
R32
R33
S15

R34

s13's have very weak chassis. They flex like crazy, i have seen several the severe kinks in them from the most minor things. Even when you brace or cage them they can still be pretty soggy. I have seen an s13 hit a square curb in first gear, about 20kmh and push the front tyre so far back it bent most of the firewall, snapped the pedal set, bent the throttle till it snapped off its mount.

They are made out of very poor metal.
