Hi mate,

Firstly apologies about the delay. The office has been closed since last Wednesday for the Asia Pacific Rally Championship that was held in QLD over the weekend.

I'm guessing it's your order I've just processed over the phone, so it should be there before Friday if TNT do their job properly. Just PM an email address too so I can fire you through your invoice as the parts will be going direct from KYB.

Any dramas at all just let me know.

Really late reply, but yes. Lots of Mazda3s have rooted shocks, a batch came from Japland with busted seals. Was one of the cars we were looking at last year as a replacement for the Mrs.

Hi mate,

Unless you know of another application that fits, KYB don't list the AGX for the 185 (only the 204).

Probably the better option anyway though would be Koni Yellows for the front, which are $259 each. Rears neither AGX or Koni Yellow are available, so just standard KYB (which will be fine with Koni fronts) are $158 each.

They may very well make the shocks, but that's not to say they'll be available aftermarket exactly the same. In fact the vast majority of products made for OEM aren't available aftermarket, be it brakes, suspension or even roof racks...

Front KYB inserts from either the MR2 rear or ST185 are $198 each.

the green i have are for a ae92 i think and i use a 20mm spacer at the bottom of the strut, so mr2 might be the same.

Greg,

I would guess that the physical dimensions should be the same for the same application, but the valving and adjustability would differ. What's your view?

If it helps, it mainly road use with an occasional autocross session, drift day. Currently has Koni yellows in the back.

gslrallysport
16th June 2010, 12:49 PM
I'd probably match it with a set of Koni Yellows if you've got them in the rear. Being a rear engined car, the weight (and thus spring rate) won't be dramatically different between the MR2 rear and AE86 front, and you'll have enough adjustment with either the AGX or Koni Yellow to sort it out.

Hi mate,

MR2 rear AGX are $225 each. AGX aren't available for the back of the AE86, if you want matching adjustable shocks you'll have to go Koni Yellow, or DMS.

Koni Yellow to suit MR2 rear are $255 each, and rear AE86 are $145 each.

All your inserts to suit AE86/KE70 are $109 in KYB, be it standard or shortened shocks etc. (I assume this is for the front?)

You need to do some measurements, give us the full extended length of the current insert, and how much shorter it needs to be from that to be captive.

dont suppose you can get Skorched 4x4 for the front of a 3 inch lifted 80 series landcruiser?

thanks

24th February 2012, 01:33 PM
Hi,

Skorched only do a 2 inch kit and Oz-tec only do a 2 inch and a 4 inch. So at the moment the only option we can offer you is a brand called Tough dog BMX shocks for $280 inc gst per shock front or rear.

i measured my current ones and the extended and compressed length are close enough to the oz-tec 100mm lifted front shocks buy there catalogue, just one question, there is 2 part numbers for the front, 60912 and 70003. the 70003 has a * after it with the note 'XHD option', would i be right in assuming that it means extra heavy duty? If so how much for them and a steering damper (40151)?

thanks

Hi,

Yeh mate the XHD does mean extra heavy duty. The Oz-tecs in the XHD are $299 per shock front or rear. Also these are a 70mm shock body. Or the standards are $165 inc gst per shock front and rear. And the steering damper will also be $165 inc gst.

yeah righto, well stuff it ill give the xhd's a run then also do these prices for koni yellows still stand?

Hi mate,

MR2 rear AGX are $225 each. AGX aren't available for the back of the AE86, if you want matching adjustable shocks you'll have to go Koni Yellow, or DMS.

Koni Yellow to suit MR2 rear are $255 each, and rear AE86 are $145 each.

Regards,
Greg

if so hit me with a pm with final price and bank details, or i can do paypal, what ever is easy.

so to sum up
landcrusier 80 oz-tec xhd front 4" x 2
landcruiser 80 steering damper x 1
sw20 mr2 rear koni yellow x 2
ae86 std length rear koni yellow x 2

i may be pushing my luck but should cut us a bit of a discount  hehehe

thanks

Hi mate,

None of the new catalogs have dimension in them, so I'll have to back through some old ones. I've just opened your PM, so I'll get cracking on it now!

Hi Kiall,

I have been in touch with my suppliers and they're all saying the same thing, the only option for off the shelf suspension would be a coilover kit. They can do KYB's but they are an insert which they have to modify with your original shock body. It is a lot of work and about the same price as what a set of coilovers would be.

Thanks mate but I gotta sell the car so I don't wanna spend $2000 on coil overs just to get rid of the car
thanks anyways
