View Full Version : Victorian drift festival. 26&27 February.

21st January 2011, 07:04 PM
Well, apparantly Vicdrift seem to think that everone who drift's is on NS.com and only ever post their events on that site (badly and hidden), plus I hate NS. So im'ma bring you the info you need.

ENTRIES OPEN TOMORROW (tuesday 1/2/11) at 8PM.

Format:
Feb 26th Sat - 10am to 10PM
Feb 27th Sun - 10am to 5pm

Short course only with single slow point prior to Turn 4.

Track time in sessions with outlook to open up as congestion dies off, no comp, no beginners section.

On site camping available but needs to be organise via Winton Raceway, $15/night per person.

$250 an entrant and this covers you for both days and includes entry into the event for both days and 1 pit crew for both days.
$60 for passenger rides and this covers you for both days, this is to ride any any car fitted with a half cage as minimum, VDC will not be providing passenger cars.
$20/day for spectator entry

Entries will be STRICTLY ONLINE ONLY and you will require a PAYPAL ACCOUNT OR CREDIT CARD TO MAKE PAYMENT.

Further details will be released later on but its getting close and you guys need to know what the go is, entries will be opened at a later stage but we will inform you of a date and time in advance so everyone is prepared.

Entries will be capped at 150 entrants.

Heres a few things that are need to know:

There is now a 7 DAY pullout window, in which if youve paid to enter and dont cancel before 7 days, you will not receive a refund. This is both good and bad. But mainly good as if you miss out at least you will have a bigger time span if offered a second chance.

Also, this is a touch more interesting:
You can reserve a carport (at the top of the hill) for $100 for the weekend or a garage (down the bottom of the hill) for $220 for the weekend. These will be allocated on a first come, first serve basis. These can be organised by phoning Winton on (03) 5766 4235.
As the bottom line states this is a winton raceway decision so dont go busting vicdrifts nuts about it

So basically, two full days of practise. Would have preffered to see something a bit more exciting such as big entry comp's, but hey, this is Victoria. The night drifting at least will bring something different (or more common to some) to it all.

Ill be there in my 86. Who's in?

willa
21st January 2011, 07:39 PM
It would be my first time track-ing it, so two days would be handy! Only thing is not sure if the car would be up to it, just put this engine in, so dont know it very well and havent got any good way to keep an eye on temps ect..
See how im going in a fortnight i guess.

You camping matty or staying in benalla?

Will.

21st January 2011, 07:46 PM
Man, if its a 4AGE and has oil, it will run all day no issues.

Staying at the caravan park I think, already had a cabin booked before I even knew there was camping, plus its only like $30 a night once its split between like 6 people which is on par with the camping fees but you get an actual bed. Plus caravan park always gets loose. Haha.

I was going to enter but would have been my 1st time drifting and they arnt going to have a beginners class so no point, will get my car ready for the next one but still going to go down for the week end

matt99
24th January 2011, 09:57 AM
Man, if you go in the singles line in group C or whatever you will be fine. You literally learn nothing on the beginners section anyway. I ALWAYS tell people to just go out in the singles line on the main track, even if they have NEVER drifted a car, you learn so much more.

hachirusto
24th January 2011, 12:08 PM
hmm ok might have to consider this a bit more then, now its just will I get my car ready in a month, when are they releasing enter forms they are really leaving alot of people in the lurch by leaving it so late

matt99
24th January 2011, 12:21 PM
They should be out this week. Im guessing probably thursday or so. Yeah, organisation is'nt Vicdrifts strong point, but then again they do all have other jobs I suppose.

$5 says ill get kicked out of the caravan park again, no doubt on the first night too.

awk sweet that sounds good. is there a way we can get our cams licence before the event?

matt99
26th January 2011, 09:55 PM
Yeah, but its easier to just get a AASA license on the day. Last a year and works for all Vicdrift events, however if you want to drift interstate you will need cam level 2NS.

If you want to know how to get a Cams license, just check out their website.

H8CHIR6KU
2nd February 2011, 12:25 PM
how many cars can they get on track at once? 150 entrants is pretty insane.

WA collie drift assault has a max of 50 entries for 2 days and that is about spot on. thats 8 on the track for 5 laps, around 1min30 a lap.

matt99
2nd February 2011, 04:16 PM
There splitting it into four groups. So 35 in each.

THERE IS FUCK ALL SPOTS LEFT SO IF YOUR GOING TO ENTER DO IT NOW. You can pull out anywhere up to one week before the even, so enter now if your considering it.

Hey chris, I just had a look and there is 11 spots left.. If at any point you want to check, go to the vicdrift site and then go to register for the matsuri and there will be a little table with the amount of spots and the amount of people already registered.

Yeah, I dont trust the diff enough at the moment to drive it that far anyway. And I doubt I will have a license in order to tow it up, so yeah.

No luck with your roady, yet. The guy is still MIA.

I just heard that they will be using the long track as well as the long sweeper :P third gear ftw, fishtailing the main strait (v8 supercar grid) will be scary with the wall and because it's narrow

matt99
23rd February 2011, 09:00 PM
Pretty sure its just short track? Just with no beginners section open. But yeah, I can see the sweeper being open for about 5 minutes before they sook up and put a slow point in. I recon that sweeper will be near 5th in my car, mmm, ratios.

matt99
27th February 2011, 11:35 PM
Surprised my things still running. Although I cooked it in the last session, fuck the sweeper was putting some strain on the car then throwing all around the back as well. Found my self doing heaps of grip laps just to cool the thing back down. Think im starting to get the car set up a bit more the way I want it, and after going through so many differnt pair of tyres I think I know what works best for me. Was a good weekend to really test shit out.

The 86's from S.A., you guys hammer, was plesantly surprised when you told me you both had NA bigports, are you guys even on here? Pity about the unfortunate accident with the blue 86 and that fuckwit Dazza in the yellow S13 (yes again, he claiming more 86's than rust these days). And that wagon from S.A. you make me want to go and dig up my panno again, that thing fucking boogies.

Overall I didnt really like the event too much. Too crowded in my opinion (although was much better this afternoon as people cleared out) and I think it was evident by the number of big scale crashes. I think a big entry comp or something was needed. But beggars cant be chooser's, so I was happy to be back out there again, good times.

Thanks mate, like Jake (JDM-MCC) sorry I didnt get to take you for a ride. Had a different passenger in every single session all weekend. Dont know why so many people wanted to put the life at risk by jumping in a car with me, haha.

Yeah, Will (willa) and Gav (KE70GT) were doing great, Gav always does but for Wills first drift day he was killing it. Good to see Josef in the 4AG gold sprinter was getting much better as the weekend went on, that all being said, theres still not enough 86's and KE's getting out there, haha.

willa
28th February 2011, 02:33 PM
yeh man me (will) and the other guy (gav) are both on here. If anyone has any pics/footage throw it up!

I loved the weekend, got heaps more track time on sunday but night drift was soo crazy, there was a split second of blindness once you came out from underneath a light and then it was like guess work with where the track was haha.

Next track day is definately on the cards!

That was an awesome weekend complete underestimated the number of tyres to bring wheeltech made me broke lol

spewing I couldn’t do the sweeper in one hit maybe next time I’ll try it on some 13's but it was good to be able to drift third gear with some decent revs the switch back coming out of the sweeper was insane loved it what I didn’t like was trying to get a fast run up for it with some random s13 in front accelerating real slow they only needed a short run up when I need to go as fast as I could soon as I was out of the last corner but I guess that what you get with different powered cars running on the same track

and what’s up with that yellow Silvia?

KurtHS
28th February 2011, 09:12 PM
Looked like you were getting the sweeper just as good as some of the S13's man, real nice for the power you had.

Haha, sorry gav. I probably held you up a few times on the sweeper too. I always ended up cutting laps with you either right infront or right behind me. When I saw you go for the sweeper I almost laughed, until I saw how far you got around it. Certainly shut me up.
