Decided to get new Tie rod ends for my KE70 as ill be running XT130 arms and the extra thread would be nice for adjustments.
SO got meself some RA40 ends, went to put them on and realised the 70 ones are a single piece end and Tube. Doh!
So off the wreckers i go, Found a RA60. took the tubes and ends and proceeded home.
This morning i went to fit the RA60 tubes to the RA40 ends to fit to the KE70 Rack...Pheww :DD. BUT. it seems the Tubes from the RA60 are longer by about 3cm. and to top it off the tie rod ends only screw in half way. making the RA60 RA40 combo like and inch and half too long!!.
So back off to find something else. Got some KE30 tubes now.. they are about the same size as the stock KE70 ones. both the rack and Tie Rod can Screw all the way in to become shorter then stock, or can screw a fair way out for longer then stock (good for longer LCA's.)
So in short, KE30 tubes, RA40 Tie Rod Ends work on a KE70 to fit longer LCA's. Could Also use the KE30 or RA60 Tie Ends too. (which ever is cheaper new ;) )
here is a pic
1. Stock KE70
2. RA60 End
3. KE30 End
4. RA40 end with KE30 tube next to it
5. RA40 end with RA60 tube.

does the stock ke70 tubes have enough adjustment with the xt-130 LCA's?
good info either way

Id say so Sam... The XT130 LCA's are 10mm longer a side. so that would mean to wind the Tie Ends out 10mm a side to keep the same Toe Adjustment.
I needed New Tie Rods anyway, so i went this way as i got the RA40 ends pretty cheap ;)

i cant get the right setup with my ke70. i run xt130's and there is just not enough adjustment to get my toe right. can only get it to +1 i think.

Sorry to point this out, but I think the RA60 has tie-rod ends the same style as KE70 and AE86.
Basically, if the car has rack and pinion steering, it has tie-rod ends as in photo No.1. The AE86 ones are about 195mm long. The RA60 and ST141 has similar, but shorter ones, either 153 or 162mm long.
There does exist some *A60 and *T140 series Celica/Carina/Coronas with old recirculating ball steering, which do have the threaded tube and seperate rod end, but these are probably not in this country. (Diesel and 4K powered rubbish).
If the car has old recirculating ball steering, then it has the seperate threaded tube and rod end as in photos No. 2,3,4,5.
The TRD Bible shows the AE86 Group A rally setup using the short rod end (standard Toyota part) and a custom or TRD threaded tube. The TRD tube has a hex section for a spanner, which I will make in time. Using vice grips is so ghetto.

sorry to bust your chops Jonny, but the tierod tubes i got where off a RA60.
I dont care where they came from, or what they from. i got it all to work, the thread pitch is the same,
so what if vice grips is ghetto, was thinking of finding a nut just slightly bigger then the tube and weld it on to make adjustments.... maybe

Well maybe the RA60 bits had been swapped previously. I was thinking of getting some hex bar, like 19mm hex, and making nuts with a huge hole, and welding them on. Just a fine detail I may or may not end up doing.
i cant get the right setup with my ke70. i run xt130's and there is just not enough adjustment to get my toe right. can only get it to +1 i think.
I think the standard solution we now know is to use short rod ends from a KE30, KE55, RA23, RA40, RT132, XT130 (all the exact same part), and use threaded tubes from RA23, RA40, XT130 (all the exact same part), and tubes from a KE30 work also.
Just trying to help... doing this myself also. The pictures are great.

does the stock ke70 tubes have enough adjustment with the xt-130 struts?
Do you mean LCA's? It's pretty sketchy from memory, that's why people change them to longer options as they have more thread.
