lines 1 and 3?

they look the same

except for the squiggle line breaking up the text (or whatever that thing is)

This is my translation:

Instructions for the manual opening and shutting operation of the radiator grille

open:

1 move the manual operation lever from {squiggle 1} mark to {squiggle 2} mark

2. radiator grille moveable area opens by use of the hand

3. move the manual operation lever from {squiggle 2} mark to {squiggle 3} mark.

Close

do the reverse procedure of the opening instructions.

so there should be a manual operation lever somewhere with some of those squiggle marks

Oh yeah, so the characters in the circles mean "open" (LHS one) and "shut' (RHS one)

You beat me too it. I'm not Japanese obviously. But I got this far:

Note: If you manually open and close the operation of the radiator grille.
Opening:
1. The control lever. The motion to reset it....
2.Radiator grill. The control lever....

Thats as far as I got. I cheat, but it's still slow.

Don't worry, I can read some (like open and close, work and arm etc sort of low level) but most of the kanji I don't know. So I cheated also :)

I have a program on my PDA where I can write in the Kanji with the pen thing and look it up... way quicker than using the mouse on the windows one :)
