Gotta love google cache for getting old threads back.

Here is a dump of all my old posts so far.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hello all

I'm bored so i thought i would post up my car.

I got my new toy for $1000 square with rego until the 10th of April. She has relatively little rust and an awesomely powerful 4kc

http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/dcimages/6/0/1/6808.jpg

Mods so far:

Remove shit
cusco camber tops
ajaps front coilovers
ae86 calipers and disks
Whiteline swaybars front and back

Stuff coming:

Rose jointed LCA's from AJPS
RCA's
Rear 6kg springs and shocks from AJPS
Front strut brace
Noltec Panhard rod

Car looks slightly more lopsided that the above pic due to having standard spring in the rear
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Just a little update.

Still waiting om my rear setup and some nice front bits from AJPS.

Started restoring some challengers that i bought last week.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Just a little update.

Challengers are on with some 175/65/r14's and only just clear the spring perch's on the front. Had to adjust them up a little to fit them on.

Still an angle monster for all the wrong reasons.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The 3tc is fucking sick. Proof is in the pudding when it comes to comparing it with the 4k.

Cut my lap times today at Baskerville from 1:16with the 4k to 1:11:7 with the 3tc.

All this with an absolutely rooted carby as i decided to have a tinker with it :P

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

unknown brand of extractors
megajolt running on the edis system (not running atm)
Wolf 2d (needs tune)

Suspension:

2T-GEU intake manifold.

pope
20th February 2009, 02:52 PM
Thanks Jonny

Yeah it a 2tgeu manifold.

Turbo will be soonish just want to tune it as is and see what sort of time i can get at basky. Might enter round one if it's any good.

hey just wandering how hard it was to put the ae86 pedal assembly in the ke, and wat was involved in doing said conversion?

cheers,
Corey

pope
3rd March 2009, 07:20 AM
It's not too bad.

You just have to make a hole in the firewall for the new assembly and then bolt the assembly in from memory.

To get it in you can drop the steering column and squeeze it in, but pulling off the dash would probably be easier.

There were some picture guides about on the old forum dunno if they got copied over.

Let me know if you get stuck and i can take some pics.

corey70
3rd March 2009, 12:19 PM
yeah my hwhole dash and steering column and everything is already out, i might be getting a ae71 one but i was just given the 86 one so was curious to see if it wasnt 2 much work gettin it in there.

cheers

pope
3rd March 2009, 06:29 PM
oh shit sorry didn't read that properly hey.

From what i have heard it's much easier with the ae71 stuff.

No idea about putting the 86 one in but your best bet is just to place it where it should go and see what needs changing.

Delazy
3rd March 2009, 06:35 PM

If i could get the Wolf tuned and a pod filter on it, i would be good to go.

pope
1st April 2009, 08:56 PM
Wolf semi tuned thanks to this beasty -> http://wbo2.com/2j/default.htm

Will get the tune, fine tuned :P this Saturday when me and a couple of mates hitup Baskerville. Hoping to crack my 1:09.

Pod filter was also ordered, purchased and installed. Wiring tidied up. Fuel system tidied up. And some other random shit in preparation for Saturday.

Are you running Lamder? Also have u had it on the dyno for a powere run? Keen to know HP...

pope
3rd April 2009, 07:55 PM
Idle runs around 13.8

Aiming for 14ish for everywhere else.

Will dyno it when i get a chance in the next month or two, but it's a bitch cause i have to organise a trailer and tow rig.

pope

Basky was a blast. Car went smoothly with only a few minor hitches.

Managed to get the tuning mostly done.

Was much fun with lots of mates turning up if a few different cars.

Pulled out the stock alternator last weekend and replaced with an 85A EA falcon unit.

Managed to get it on with only some angle grinding and a little welding. No more running an externally regulated 3tc alternator without a regulator :)

Also ordered and received a lock spacer from AJPS, now just gotta find time to put it in.

7th May 2009, 10:04 PM
okay i've got a couple of questions!!
How many degrees of camber is that?
How did you re-co the challengers? I've got to do mine soon!
Cheers
Mark

pope
7th May 2009, 10:21 PM
Just KYB Excel-G's in the rear.

I'm loving the 3t, just so simple and strong.

Running -3 degrees atm. Could run a lot more and probably will when i start drifting it.

Used carby cleaner to remove all the paint off the challengers. Then varying grades of wet and dry to sand em back to smoothish. Then just masked em off and used engine paint for the centers.

Cheers guys.

Cerby86
8th May 2009, 01:32 AM
yeah thats sounds like the way to go!
I was just asking about the camber cos I changed to xt130 LCAs with ae86 struts and thats meant to make around neg 2 degrees but i was a bit disappointed cos it doesn't look like much at all! I'll get a wheel allignment soon and find out how much camber there actually is!

also i wonder if it would be worth while getting a 3tg fully counterweighted crank??

Nice fucking work!

When you hit the track again, what are you hoping for this time round?

pope
18th July 2009, 08:21 AM
Thanks guys.

I'm leaving the decisions on balancing and things up to the boys at Tas Engine reconditioning.

Would love to make 1Kw per 10cc so roughly 180Kw in total but i may be waaaay off who knows. Ideally if it's just responsive I will be happy.

Any suggestions on tuners once it's built? Went and saw the guys at autocraft and they seem to know what's what.

pope
18th July 2009, 09:45 PM
Eagle rods all read exactly the same down to the gram on my kitchen scales. Being pessimistic that gives an accuracy of +- 1g. Not bad I think. The pistons themselves range from 342.2g to 344.0g. I assume they may get a sliver taken off to balance them up, but realistically I wouldn't think a few grams here or there is going to cripple the engine.

faster than a 4agze? running 14 psi??

pope
21st August 2009, 08:39 PM
No idea on power and I really don't want to speculate till it's done.

I think it should easily handle more than 14Psi and the extra 200cc has gotta count for something but it is an older engine so who knows.

Cooler piping is going to run op through under the battery and the same on the other side. Paint was done mainly with wire wheels on an angle grinder and drill.

Updatesss

Engine is in and wiring is nearly done.

Megajolt went bang, so i decided to ditch the wolf as well and run a megasquirt.

Megasquirt relay and stimulator purchased and built. Just need to buy the megasquirt, build in and then plug it in.

Things to do:
Buy 7mgte injectors and leads.
Buy a few fuses.
Get new 3" exhaust done from dump to in front of rear left wheel + O2 bung.

Squirt is soldered and sort of installed. Took about 7-8 hours of soldering and testing to do with the kit from diyautotune.com. Edis setup is working and firing but injectors are not. Gonna try and sort them out today.

Shit, where did time go.

Bought a house with no garage. Garage got built and finished a couple of weeks ago, so on with progress.

Photo of the new accommodation:

Side pipe was put in today, no more choking on exhaust fumes... hopefully:

Alright need a list of things to do before getting it tuned:

Gearbox oil - DONE
Engine oil refresh - DONE
Tighten all bolts - DONE
Fuse electrical items not yet fused - 50%
Put in boost controller - DONE
Get battery - DONE
Bleed Brakes - DONE
find e-clip for turbo - DONE
fix up fuel pipes - DONE

After tune:

Get fire extinguisher
Get wheel alignement
Do track day to get used to car
Source some cheap rear rims + tyres
Get cams license

I think that's all for now.

looking good there, the intercooler looks mad sitn out in the open. Dnt kno if u mentiond this, but what intake are u using on that motor. It dust seem to be the standard efi one.

nice I reckon thats where i'll take mine when the new motor is in. Since seeing what he did with lloyds car he seems to be the only hope for my 12:1 comp supercharged motor. Until I saw lloyds car I thought I would have to ditch the high comp pistons!

pope

dunno. Going to have to have a serious talk with summers I think. I'm still not sure if I can get away with low boost on 98 or whether I'll have to pull the pistons and get some gze ones. Only thing I am sure of is I don't want to go NA cos I don't want to spend the money on the top end :P

Dnt bother with the high comp..

he was worried about my motor being on 98ron @ 12:1 cr..

his definately not going to like the idea of it with boost added..

come to think of it matt rogers didnt like the 12:1 idea much either lol..

But yes, in my opinion you'd be silly to take your car anywhere else to have it tuned locally..the work coming out of gtgarage lately is awesome..

mmm bugger. The only reason why im even thinking of it is cos they are the pistons that I have in the motor. How much for standard gze pistons and will they fit in a smallport block?

Everything went awesome!!!!

Only dramas were a blown fuse and we had to change the spark plugs for a different type.

Didn't want to push any harder on it, given it is a fresh engine. Will run it like this for a while and see how it goes.
