Hey.

Just after some advice on rebuilding my steering rack.
Going to buy all new seals etc, got a quaife rack etc to go in. Just wondering how people go about disassembling them. What sort of tools etc they use?

Don't plan on rebuilding it, will pay to get that done. All I want to do is disassemble and machine a few things.

I did search, but didnt find.

itll be in there.

i found a massive socket at work that fits instead of the sst. it was like 2inches or sumthing 40mm? cant remember. but yeh.. 22mm spanner i think.. shifter.. pick pluss that big 12point socket.

if you read of the manual and start doing it will notice its prettty straight forward.. except for the bottom bearing. heatfitted.

I found it easy to pull apart and put back together. Though I used vice grips for the big lock rings and a big bolt head for the massive hex sockets.

It isn't a complicated bit of equipment.

Cheers. Remembered I had a service manual underneath a pile of paper, so just used that.

Took about 10 minutes to disassemble!

What seals are you talking about? The manual rack has almost none.
