absolutely, bit harder than a normal bonnet as there is a pattern that you have to paint over and it requires more prep work and more layers of paint to stop the carbon weve pattern showing through. but yes, it is possible.

would that add alot of weight with the paint layers???? im sure it wouldnt be much, but not sure.

just clear coat it, or paint it once, the bumpy pattern is pointless trying to cover up, and why would you want to?

cause at least it gives the look of stockness, that cops love so much!!!!
i dont wanna be getting pulled over everytime i go for a drive.
what the cops dont see they dont suspect or something to that effect.

it woulden't add to much weight to the panel a few kilos at most, it may depend on the finish you want, if the bonnet is in poor conditon and needs filler to fix any problems then the wieght will increase further justs depends on what your after of the finished product.

if ya after stock looking just get a flat sanding block with 120 grit go over whole bonnet just to get rid of the canvas look, putty it, 320grit dry rub, finish of with 800 grit wet prep and paint

Carrera Cup cars and West racing cars etc have some of the body parts covered with coloured or clear contact for material protection and ease of repair. Its pretty easy to do and you can peel it off and it wont ruin your carbon bonnet.

the carbon bonnet i had had 2pak clear sprayed on top.

i suggest selling your carbon bonnet however and buying an frp if youre just going to spray a colour over it

arnt all these bonnets fibreglass with a carbon skin
so the weight difference wouldn't be much at all.

but back onto topic

i would sell the carbon bonnet and get a fibreglass one if your goning to paint it

i have seen some that have been painted and looks crazy , like a purple over the carbon , the squares of carbon just come through in purple

but yeah cops love the carbon bonnet
