Rallystanza: we changed the setup from a standard 16v dizzy cut down to be a crank angle sensor, to a 4agze one, as we kept melting the 16v ones, to near to the turbo, and in the process mucked up all the timing. it was due to go in for re dyno after fatz day in nov, but as i had a small panel incident it spent the week in the panel shop before autosalon, and we neglected the dyno work. as a result i was thrashing it round with around 12 degrees to much advance, and in a high comp turrbo setup the result is messy. i melted the tops of the dome pistons right down to the rings, but it still ran no probs justa little smokey. we pulled it down 2 weeks prior to Eastern creek, and found the problem. I have no doubt the pistons would have been fine had the tuning been updated, but its just one of those things that happens i guess. a fairly expensive mistake, but a lesson learnt nontheless....
