got the bucket seats in this week, they sit a bit to high but you get that! also put in some solex locks, cost me $80 and its in possible for some one to break in by shoving something down the window, took me over a month to find out what lock would fit because they dont make them for ae86s, ill put the product number up when i post some more pics, great buy for those who want to keep there hachis safe at night!

the locks are solex, the cheapest place i found them was super cheap auto, compared to auto barn which was $10 more, the product number is NUL1350 for the 3 lock set and NUL1250 for the two lock set, i got the 3 lock set but the hach lock needs to be welded the fittings dont fit, real stupid becuase the door ones fit perfect, but all it needs is a bit of soldering or something, you'll understand when you get them its not that hard!

Did the interior bits come up ok when u painted them?

DRiiFT_King
13th April 2005, 08:47 PM
when i painted the interior every thing came up looking smick, except for the ash tray in the centre, i thought it might of been because i used vinyal spray and the ash tray is plastic, so used normal paint and it looked shit house, and still does, but it changes the look of the car by 100% and it only cost me $20

E V A N
13th April 2005, 09:35 PM
So you can use vinyl spray on the plastics?

DRiiFT_King
15th April 2005, 08:48 PM
i sprayed every thing with the vinyal spray, and it came out looking great, just make sure ya do what the can says and light coats and it shouldnt run, next for me is the door trims, just got to figure out what i want to do with the fabric, once the interior is back together (tommorow) ill post some pics so you can see for your self!

Be ready for a lot of noise with ye ol KAAZ LSD.

I put mine in a couple of weeks ago and did the correct run in procedure.

Noisy as still.

Did the run in again and again and was still very very crunchy..

All this time i was changing the oil with new KAAZ oil each time and it didnt help.

I have now put Penrite Limslip LSD oil which has a weight of 80-145 as opposed to the KAAZ 80-90. Has worked a treat and the LSD can't be heard anymore.

Good luck with it,

Jezza

DRiiFT_King

thanks, for that, i was thinking about getting another can of the kaaz stuff, but now i think ill see what there is at work,

everything is starting to happen, the t-series is getting the kaaz put in, reco'ed and resprayed, and hopefully a custom breather.
im going for some uthraine* engine mounts to go with my custom crossmember, so the engine should sit nice and low as far back as possible, then once thats in it will get wired up sometime after christmas, then hopefully for a couple of slabs my mate will spray it lime/apple green.
then after all that i will looking into suspension, maybe some koni sleeve kits and what not from AJPS.
a 6 point cage from a mob in dandenong
give it this time next year, and it will be unstopable

slide86
11th December 2005, 11:21 PM
yeah mines not even that nosiy from what i remember
broke it in properly
flog the f*** out of it and shes great.

yeah i got them stickers too
dunno where to put them
there not the best lol
owell.

but yeah ive also heard the penrite shit is good.
and at only $30 for 2 litres ill be using that next time i change my oil.
i had 2 cans of kaaz oil. dropped the oil once i had broken in the diff.
and then filled her up agian.

cool nice to see things are goin forward for u is the CA in?

DRiiFT_King
12th December 2005, 10:39 PM
na, i gonna spray the engine bay first, becuase its a dirty grey colour, to like satin black, thing respray all the little bits and pieces black, put braided brake and clutch hoses in they fit the crossmember, drop the engine in, bolt and wire it up, take it to work to get dyno tuned, and see if theres any benifits in running a wolf 3d or something

DRiiFT_King
8th February 2006, 08:18 PM
the engine bay and inner gaurds are all sprayed satiin black, the custom crossmember is bolted up, he kaaz is installed and the t-series has had a full reco with new bearings and what not. all the interior a dash lights are now all blue, all the A/C weight is gone, and the safety 21 cage is ready to be bolted down, the ca18 goes in next week, the battery has been relocated to the boot, so every thing at this stage is looking sweet for winton

the CA would of gone in this week end, but as soon as i lifted it up the ram on the engine crane started pissing out oil, so thats delayed things a bit. i pulled the gearbox off and had a look at the clutch, its nothing speacial but it has a lot of meat left on it, so it'll do for a few months.

i have also decided to put new oil seals and bearings in to the t-18 rear end, cause i dont know its history and its cheap insurance for the KAAZ.

i realy want to strip out the whole interior, but in the last 6 months ive spent close to $900 on seats, brackets carpet, paint and blue interor light to make it all pretty, so ill see how much attention i get from the cops in it, and i its to much ill just strip the whole thing take it of the road and fit the cage. and keep for track only.

went to put the gear box on this weekend, didnt happen. i had to pull the motor out, i read this somewhere but didnt know how acurate it was, so i gathered if its so much work to get the gear box on then im going to get a new clutch, so ive ordered a exedy heavy duty single plate clutch, so hope fully the car will be back to were i had it 3 weeks ago next week

DRiiFT_King
18th May 2006, 09:22 PM
the build up has been fairly slow over the past few weeks, i didnt put an exedy clutch in it after all because the one that was in it is nearly brand new, so i thought at the moment the money is better of else where.

i have brought a HKS style pod and got giving a nissan patrol wastegate, that should go on this weekend, the car is rolling now and all work under it is done for the time being, so im bringing it home so i can wire it and fit the cage,

im tinkering with the idea of a fuel cell, reasons being i can cut out were spare wheel goes and centralise the tank, saving wieght and better balence, and hopefully not having to put in a surge tank and two pumps.

slide86
18th May 2006, 09:28 PM

the project is just about to an end... well running theres still heaps more to do,
http://img69.imageshack.us/img69/8945/10004218mz.jpg (http://imageshack.us)

ive ended up putting a 48litre fuel cell in with a surge tank and a commodore fuel pump, we cut the rear floor out were the spare tyre well is allong the chassis rails and welded a flat piece of sheet metal in, this means the weight at the back will be as centred as possible and fuel supply and starvation will never be a problem, this was to my suprise a easy and cost effective solution

this is whats writen on the notice,
'c18 motor fitted (turbo)'

'exhaust-to low' be its not, the guy said they measure it with 5 fully grown adults in it, but its a 4 seater, and with the springs it would hardly move.

'gear stick' theres no knob.

'front end alignment' some how they dont think 16 degrees of negative camber is legit.

we got EPA'ed (for the pod and intercooler- we can only have one of them) and my mate got done for driving a high powered car.

they failed to notice ever thing else

i had a engineer come out saturday and have a look at the car, gave me a list of stuff i need to do, he said all the mounts i have made up are fine so im pretty happy about that. hes looking into the fuel cell, and drawing up plans for reinforcement around the shifter hole and intercooler. he also said my seats were fine depending on how much there heavier then the originals. once its all done i have to get it weighed and a brake fade test.

once there more interior in and some sort of demisters it should be road worthy

Hi nice ride! I hate to say it but its prettier from underneath those rear coil overs look sweet!!!!
Just a quick question. Did you have to reinforce where the top of the coilovers meet the car? I 've heard that some that area usually needs a fair bit of reinforcing to cope with the centralised forces!
Cheers

Love what you've done to the car. Everything looks to be well thought out and done properly, great to see.
One of your mates has been telling me about it at box hill institute after he saw my 86 sitting in the car park.
Car looks awesome, cant wait to see it in action at Winton!

Goodluck with it
