Stolen from NissanSilvia.com, this guy apparently reckons he has Australias Best Drift Car...........................

As many of you will have heard by now we are building what we consider to be the best drift car in Australia, and if you havent heard about it before you have now!

Based on the car that made it all famous in the beginning the Toyota AE86, we have taken a good clean Australian delivered car and are in the process of transforming it into what will be the ultimate drift car in Australia.

Just a few specs on the car so far:

Engine: ST205 3SGTE, Fully ballanced, Eagle H Rods, Ross Racing Pistons, Cometic HP Head Gasket, ARP Stud Kit, Stellite Valves, Waggot Custom Grind Cams, HKS Cam Wheels, SARD Fuel Rail, 4 x 1500cc injectors, Raceflo Plenum, Raceflo Turbo Manifold, GT35/40 Turbo, Microtech LT10 Computer, Tilton Race Clutch.

Body & Driveline: FRP Guards, Doors, Tailgate, Carbon Bonnet, Dash, CBY body kit & flares, AGX adjustable struts, Ebachi Springs and coil overs, T3 5 link adjustable rear, T3 fully adjustable front end, Willwood 4 spot calipers and 310mm x 32mm rotors, R32 GTR Skyline rear calipers and rotors, 10 point cage, 18 x 9 front wheels with 235 x 30, Rears 18 x 12, 295 x 30 x 18, alloy drop tank, twin bosch motorsport pumps, Velo Race seats, Sparco Steering wheel, PWR Radiator.

Complete car should be close to 800kg rolling, with a proven 800rwhp.

it looks good but i dunno how well it will work, crazy power for such a small car, if he pushes out 800hp when he is drifting where gonna see some chassis twist majorly. also i can see many diff's braking maybe even tail shafts

Anyone else notice the lack of an LSD being mentioned there?

Medicine_Man
14th April 2005, 02:26 PM
You don't need that much power to drift, suspension and skill has more to do with it than power..

If it all works out the i hope it has a driver that can actually use it and not be a poser.

breno
14th April 2005, 03:32 PM
it only has a hi lux diff http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/blink.gif And the car is not just for drifting, it is for track use aswell. But i dont see why they need 800hp. There is only one 86 in D1gp that has over 150kw http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/wink.gif

Why would you need that much power to drift I think they should make it into an un tubed drag car with that much power.

Hey Guys

Thanks for the support http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/cool.gif (I think?) as I see from the threads the same old questions, Why, and I ask why not, as many of you have comented, no you dont need 800hp for drift, and the car will not run many events with 800hp, the race figure will be closer to 500hp, with the option to up the anti only a touch of a button away, but unlike some of the other big budget cars that may or may not have been mentioned in this thread, we are building this car with the best interests of Drift racing in mind, hence the reason we are using the type of car that made it all famous. People want to see a spectical, and for the average punter who loves their V8 fossils, we are partiually trying to grab their attention, hence the 800hp, nearly 200 more than their beloved V8 Fossils, and half the weight, and still a localy deliverd car.

So as our moto goes all for drift and drift for all

would make a great modified sedan racer, if it handles....

If I had the money lying around, I would have personally made a small fleet of drift spec 86's with nicely tuned 16V Twincams and started a basic drift technique school.
Painted two of them the same and used them at drift events with two skilled drivers behind the wheel, cause the tandem-drift thing is what grabs attention.

but of course, another saying is, to each his own..
I wouldn't knock back the chance to try and steer that fire-breathing dragon though!!!!
I always wanted to take the step from 350HP up to 500hp when I had the old CA18DET

Yeah, if I wanted a sticker!!!!

Firstly, If you bid in this auction and win you will receive a torn Hella lighting sticker from one of the cars.[/b]

He says something about the muppets, he is the muppet, another one of the "get rich by making a quick dirty sale on Ebay." people

But yes, a ten car drift team would have been my choice ifI was looking to fully promote drift in Australia. Most of the ten could be used at a "drift school"

*edit, thought it would look bad for a mod to swear, sorry guys.

1) Hi Ant. How's things in Japan?

2) Jon (Raceflo), what track class would that be in. Aside from drifting I can only see it fitting the Sports Car category, as it'll be far beyond Improved Production regs. Or are you going for drift & drag?

marvin
17th May 2005, 11:29 PM
The main events for the car, you are right will be Drift and Drag, but some other events such as hill climbs, go to whoa events, cruises, ect ect, just will be hapy to get as much use out of the car as I can.

Aaah..the easy way out. Just kidding.

I'm currently building a CA20DET hybid engine to stick in my S12. Sadly the only CAMS racing category it would fit is Sports Car, which it's far too heavy or far too underpowered. So I started my own club track days at a local circuit (Darlington Park) for any & all cars to compete.

I cant say I am familiar with any of your achievements! It would appear that you are yet another Key Board warrior, if you are not able to match the input I am prepared to invest into seeing the drift scene in this country make it to the same level or beyond the V8 Super Car series, then I suggest you put up or shut up. http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/angry.gif

As far as speculation on Josh "shitting" all over us, get real, we have 5 of the best drivers in Australia, and we are talking from not just the drift scene, ready to jump into the car, and with the level of suspension set up, power to weight, braking ability, chassis tuning, and usable power available, tyre selection, technical input from chasis, suspension, and drive line experts, explain to me precisely on what, apart from the end of your knob, do ,base your claim on, you have made the call so, please explain, in intricate detail as you must be the master of drift, judging by the call you have made, or, again please, put up or shut up.

Good luck to ya Jon!!

seriously guys, who gives a shit? i for one am looking forward to seeing this car on the track as soon as possible, arent you? dont bulshit, who wouldnt want to see an 800 (or as said, 500) hp ae86 out on the track??

sure, you can drift with less than 1/6th of that kind of power in a hachi, but once again, who gives a shit? its going to be a adjective insane spectacle (if it doesnt go into a wall, even THEN it will STILL be a spectacle!) to everyone who see's it... and if the driver(s) can manage to tame this wild beast then all the better!

and maybe robbie will feel the need to up the ante in his ute!

Cheers guys, sorry I got a little fired up, but it is starting to wear a bit thin with some of the key board warriors who want to knock the project, if they put there energy into supporting what we and many other guys are trying to achieve in this sport, the the winner would be drift, but unfortunatly it is this type of attitude that will destroy what we are trying to acheive.

All for drift and drift for all

I think you gettin fired up was fine, theres too many keyboard warriors on forums these days that really have no idea what they are on about.

The car is going to be an absolute weapon, it will look absolutely phat and have the performance to match.

You sound like you have a fair idea what you are talking about and i wish you all the luck in this exciting project

Both of you need to calm down. I can understand Andy 86's point of view, the same as I can understand your point of view Mr Raceflo. There will always be people for and against, exactly the same scenario as the CAPA ute driven by Robbie Bolger. No more outbursts like this please from either of you.

I believe that drifting in Australia needs to be better.

Better for the teams involved, better for the crowd, better for the sponsors and people involved in organising such events.

How do we do that.

With better cars, better drivers, better marketing.

I for one believe that 500hp and 9"wide rubber will equal insanely fast drifting (driver actions/ability into account). Entertaining the crowd, whilst also lifting Australias world wide status as skillful drifters/drivers.

If Mr Race Flo isnt on the right track to help lift our beloved sport, then i dunno what is.

Might as well pack up and go home now.

I for one support Mr raceflow and his crew/team.

As for this being the "apparent best drift car in oz", wait till its had a few runs under its belt, but for now, i think Beau has the numbers on the board.

Cheers
