Just got this fitted.... Damn its good!! Its a lil heavier but geez does this thing feel direct.

The standard rack is just too slow for a high performance car.... This thing really makes the car feel like a sports car.

Anyone who wants to go hard out in their 86 would definately benefit from this mod...

The rack is now 2.5 turns lock to lock, a standard rack is 3.7. Thats basically 33% quicker steering.

D1 Spec- Cant tell ya how it drifts cuz basically i dont drift. But i can tell u this... U know when u oversteer in a go-kart, it is so easy to catch the slide cuz the steering is so direct u can easily catch it with just a flick of the wrist... with out worrying about over correction etc.

Well, the rack is not quite that quick but it definately gives me that feeling. I reckon the car is now way easier to control cuz the steering wheel now hardly ever leaves ur hand. And that gives u control!!

I didn't fit it my self so i dont know how difficult it is... however, all rack n pinion are pretty similar so i cant imagine it being all that difficult.

I have read on other forums that these do not fit properly. There were no drama's when you got it installed?

i think they are over rated for a daily driver and even for a mild drifter, but for a hardcore drifter i think its a must

I've heard that they dont fit properly too... Thats why i took it to a professional steering n suspension place... but no problems came up for me... and they work pretty good... no noises, rattles etc...

Dave (0407716089) told me that there were issues with the rack havin two extra gears and dont fit properly... worked out fine for me... the only two extra teeth i saw were on the pinion... thats understandable... as u need more teeth to change the ratio...

Over rated? i dont think so... up to personal preference really... i'm used to cars/karts with a quick ratio rack so this suited me perfect... probably the best mod i've done recently...

If u've never tried one... dont be too quick to judge... try one out and make ur judgement then... http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/cool.gif

You can buy it direct from that site delivered

usually takes 2 weeks to arrive

RobertoX
29th April 2005, 07:36 PM
yes i did quote about $440 delivered, as their price has gone up, to around $400 AUD just for the rack, then customs etc, and freight...etc

RobertoX
29th April 2005, 07:37 PM
also unless u have a credit card, an extra $30 will be charged, as u have to go to the bank and do a telegrapic transfer

$440 looks cheap now...
