OK kids, a bit of an update is in order

It now has a fixed back saas race seat sitting on home made non adjustable SHTOCKspec seat mounts.

I also have a Twincam16 steering wheel kindly donated by Jezza (rallystanza).
This will soon be replaced by a suede 300mm momo wheel with about 30mm dish that i got for a steal, i also have a 75mm spacer awaiting the purchase of a boss kit.
If anyone has an 86 boss kit they want to sell PM me please.

I have also removed the gold pinstriping because i wasnt a big fan.

I outgrew my Kings Lows and thought it was time to upgrade the suspension.
So I did a deal with Pedders and secured some suspension in return for doing a little bit of work for them.

The car went into R&D at Pedders for a day and came home with:

Springs: 2565a Hyuandi Coupe 96 - Rear lowered (sports ryder)
Shocks: Custom wet leg setup with Pedders A settings, stock strut tube length and spring seat retained

Springs: 7159a Ford Escort 78 2LITRE P/VAN - Front Spring Standard
Shocks: gsr9034 Holden HK-HG UTE & P/VAN V8 - Rear Shock (Gas Sports Ryder)

The part numbers are there for anyone who wants the same stuff, it is all off the shelf items apart from the front shocks of course.

I am very happy with the setup, it is about 60mm lower than standard and is very stiff, a good compromise between a daily driver and something that will be used as a track car every now and then. I will be doing RCA's, swaybars, bushes etc to further improve the handling when i have the money.

Also sitting in my shed is a drum to drum T-18 rear end, a 4.1 centre, corona rear disc brake setup, R32 master cylinder.
These will be fitted to the car within the next month or so.

I will do another update then, until then heres some pics of how she looks these days. It looks a bit funny cos of the difference in profiles of the front to rear tires.

No idea on the retail of the suspension, ring up a local pedders and ask for a quote, all the part numbers are there, not sure what you would do about front shocks coz they were custom.
As for the 15's, they didnt throw the speedo out by much as being a lower profile they are almost the same rolling diameter as the stocko, i think 195/50/15 are even closer than mine.

Well kiddies, Since the last update i have:
a 100mm boss kit which is currently in the post as well as a momo suede steering wheel with a bit of dish

a 4.1 outta a Ta22 in a t-18 diff housing with corona disc brakes, has taken a bit of effort with relocating shock mounts and getting custom brake lines for it but its now ready to go in.

Nice diff man

25th September 2005, 11:12 AM
Well the R32 master cylinder and complete rear end is in now.

I have had a leaking master cylinder for a while (about 6 months) and have just been topping it up with fluid.
Well, i bolted the new master up and pumped the pedal and had to pump for about 5 mins to get all the fluid out of the booster, i reckon there was about 1 litre in there Laughing

But the master is a direct bolt up. I threw away the normal junction thingy inside the engine bay and just bent the lines to the new master, no cutting or joins required, was very suprised.
With standard brakes on the front and the corona on the back it has a fair bit of rear bias which makes it fun to set up for a corner with. I Will be upgrading the fronts to RX7 calipers soon and will get a bias valve if its still bad i guess.

So fun fun fun basically.

nice wheels. you don't see that too often.
very clean car.

20th November 2005, 05:53 PM
I have gone for some more bling, passenger door handle was stuffed so and I heard that SV21 door handles were a direct bolt up and they are chrome.
Well...they do bolt up, but the rod is on the wrong angle to meet with the handle and all sorts of stuff, thanx to my bro we got it sorted and this is how it looks.

Thats pretty sweet looking, nice job on all the work so for to

22nd December 2005, 07:14 PM
Looks in good condition. How did the diff conversion go?

22nd December 2005, 09:22 PM
yeah, diff conversion was pretty easy, all in and no troubles.

I'm currently in the process of redoing the bumpers, The JDM front lip from MFX is fitted to the bumper and the bumper is half sanded back.

My RX7 calipers arrived today so once the bumpers are finished its time to start the front brake conversion.

Since the last update ive blown 2 head gaskets, the first one was on the original engine, it was that tired i just changed engines with a spare i already had. Then the spare blew a head gasket on monday and that is all fixed now. Its all fun and games i tells ya

22nd December 2005, 09:34 PM
haha yeah my head gaskets been blown for months now, but still revvs out well and drives allright no point in doin the head when i have my new motor there waitin to go in http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/biggrin.gif just go through oil and alot of it

I havent considered longer studs, I dont run spacers or anything like that so I dont have a need, there is still plenty of thread, I havent had any wheels fall off yet

Car was dyno'd just before xmas, put out 45rwkw which isnt bad for a tired old 4ac.

Jezza (rallystanza) and I have been working on my front bumper with JDM lip attached,
I decided to do something a little different and try to make the lip look like it was on there from factory, just a smooth shape from the bumper to the lip.
We have done a fair amount of work and this is how she looks at the moment

25th January 2006, 01:52 PM
I wanted to try something different with the grille on my car as the old red paint was starting to chip.
So i decided to paint it a charcoal metallic color called desert rose metallic, heres some pics,

Im still not sure how it will look when i get my freshly painted red bumpers on but i reckon it looks good for now

Nar, who needs a 4age
I highly doubt that a 4age will ever be seen in my engine bay.

8th February 2006, 10:15 PM
Sweet, be sure to post up pictures once back on car

8th February 2006, 10:33 PM
wow, that does look neat...considered doing a diy thread to show us how you moulded it that good?

please please http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/biggrin.gif

8th February 2006, 11:06 PM
I could do a DIY thread actually.

The basics are, drilled 4 holes in the lip and bumper (2 on each side) then put self tapper screws in to hold it there then ran sikaflex down the back of it and filled all the gaps up.
Once the sikaflex was hard the screws came out.
Next was to get some plasti-fil, its a flexible kinda bog, we used 1 kg of the stuff mind you heaps was sanded off.
Probably put on and sanded off 6 or so times to build it up so it had a nice flow from the bumper to the lip.
Then sprayed on a few litres of high fill, once again applied that 3 or so times sanding in between each one.
Then it was top coat time, just used some acrylic off the factory paint code.

Theres ya basics, need more info, just ask

9th February 2006, 12:56 PM
Ok, well its shitty melbourne weather but the bumper is on and im quite happy with the look.
its acrylic paint so i still got a week before i can buff it but its fairly shiny already

I got it from a guy in WA, I have a feeling it was driftae86, he was selling them for $70 from memory. Not sure if he still has or can get them
