HOT car!

Is there a Tein HA for the ae86?!? or is that a custom job? What are the brakes like? Do you still have the part number for the RDA slotted jdm discs? http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/biggrin.gif:D

Medwin_3sGTE_AE86
30th April 2005, 12:55 AM
Yeah dude... Tein only make one type of suspension for AE86... thats the Tein HA... it comes with oversized shock body and the stub axles... fuckin expensive though... cheaper to go tokico HTS and custom coil over setup...
If i had the choice again... i'd either go Kei-office (same price as tein $4g) or i'd save some money and go the tokico's...and spend the rest of the cash else where...

RDA slotted discs... go to ABS Springwood... they'll help u out...

Beautiful car mate. So nice and genuine!
How does the blacktop go??? I could just imagine the sound of 7-8000rpm, ohh im so envious haha!! Great work mate!!!

Maybe a suggestion for the future:
N2 wing and sum whitelines would certainly finish that off. But it still looks beautiful now even with the zenki's

Thanks for the comments... I'm still developing the car... playing around with different setups etc to get the most out of it on the track...

There seems to be fair bit of interest on the blacktop 20v...hehe... My cars got 288/292 cams but no cam gears and still running vvt so its not quite right yet... i've never driven a stock 20v so i cant tell you how it goes compared to that... but i have been in quite a few stock 16v... i'll give u a run down of what i think...

My car hasn't got much power below 3000rpm... but from there the torque builds quickly and peaks at around 6000rpms... due to the cam timing, peak hp is achieved around 7000rpm... the car revs nicely to 8500 but to get the most of it... it think shifting at 8000 yields the best results...

Compared to a stock 16v, there is more torque everywhere especially around the 5000rpm area...

The engine atm is very driveable on the street but thats not exactly what i was after... after i change the cam gears... i'll be focusing on moving the power band up a little to make more horse power around the 8000rpm area.

My target is around 190hp+ at around 8200rpm and a raised limiter of 9000rpms http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/rolleyes.gif

thats nice as!

how many people is that regestered for to carry, ive read if you have only two seats you can only have it for two people, etc...

can you remove the sound deading and still pass the roadworthy?

slide86
14th November 2005, 09:52 PM
it only has 2 seats and its registered as a 2 seater

Medwin_3sGTE_AE86
14th November 2005, 10:31 PM
Roadworthy is all dependent on who you take it to... some people are reluctant to pass anything that has been modified... even if everything meets the requirements... I had a bit of trouble with roadworthy... but eventually i found someone who was willing through my car and pass everything......

Sound deadening by itself should be fine....but make sure u put carpets back in... any exposed baremetal surface inside the cabin is illegal....

FilthinRich

Love the car mate, i like the rims, after some myself actually, how much did u pick them up for? n what offset are they? did you make the rear brace yourself mate?

beaut car buddy

Medwin_3sGTE_AE86
9th January 2006, 11:05 PM
Sorry for the late reply... havent looked here for a while... The rims i beleive are off the ma70 supra... i bought them for around $200... Although they look good... they're fkn heavy... (15" watanabe is more than 1kg lighter per rim) not a performance rim, the offset is pretty good though... i'd say pretty close to 0.

I didnt make the rear strut brace myself... i think someone makes em... cheap alternative to something like cusco... does the same job... i personally wouldnt use the harness bolt in points though... they'll need some additional bracing if i was to depend my life on them.... http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/tongue.gif

Toda Camgears finally arrived....just b4 christmas... need to find time to get em fitted and tuned.

Car in the shop gettin cam gears fitted/tuned and various other little things fixed up.... Should be all ready to go for the AE86 cruise...
So worried about the output of the engine... why isnt there any info on the net about working a 20v NA engine....so gay... at least i'll have an idea... dont even know if my cams will make the power and torque i want....
Just been told Ivan Tighe Cams are no where near as good as TODA or HKS cams.... thats so gay.... i hope thats not the case... http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/blink.gif

Cam gears are in..!! The car's been tuned... at the moment its putting out 133hp@8200rpm at the wheels.... the engine is still making good power up till 8800rpm... I think with a lil bit more mucking around with the intake(plenum) and camgears... 140 shouldnt be a problem.... at least its finally making power up in the top end...! http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/smile.gif

I'll post up a pic of the enginebay when i get a chance...

Jack, for your air box (not called a plenum if it sits before the throttle body) i can get you some big hairy trumpets similar to mine.. or what ever size you want.. let me know.. incase you havn't seen it, this is what under my box looks like..

This car rocks my jocks.

Thats a crazy ass final gear ratio...does she rev up reeeealy fasT?

Medwin_3sGTE_AE86
25th January 2006, 01:04 PM
Thanks for the idea... but i already have tuned length trumpets sitting inside the box... a few ideas are being throw around atm... one is to go buy the universal CFRP box on the link i sent ya... and the other which is what i most probably will opt for is cuttin down the radiator and mount it lower down and use the whole grill area as a forced air ram like on the 2L super tourers... run a massive BMC panel filter and make a whole new box... nothing much is gonna happen for while as the cars performance right now is pretty sweet...

I was pretty worried about the cam gears making my car a pig to drive... but theres virtually no power loss down low and the power in the mid range and top end is sooooo much better...

Matty... i gotta take u for a spin oneday... the car is pretty quick now (around 180-190 flywheel hp)... i think u'll be surprised... http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/cool.gif

"Thats a crazy ass final gear ratio...does she rev up reeeealy fasT? "

Umm... 4.778 is pretty good for acceleration, made a noticeable difference. Although to get the most from it i should run a trd gear set for 1st 2nd and 3rd... Even on the highway its not that bad... Lots of the race cars out there run 5.xx diff ratios... i dont even get to use 5th gear at QR... i recommand the 4.778 final drive for anyone who doesnt drive their car daily...
