I have a ball throwing mine sideways.
Its so easy. Everyone that has a go in it says how easily it slides and how controllable it is. Especially the FC boys lol. They have a hard time with there cars.

yep.....drag is gay,

perfect for meatheads who have no skill at all and rely only on their car to do the work for them

....bloody trevs

drag racing like all forms of motorsport involves skill

not really a fan of drag though because the person with the biggest budget is most likely to win. Dial in drag racing is good in this way, as slower cars can still compete with the best.

mines usually found going around philip island or winton raceway (without the arse end hanging out)... I'll look into this whole drift thing once I've got my level 3 racing license.

What about Targa Rallies....? That'd be pretty damn close to touge i reckon.... Eventually i'll start competing in these....
Targa Tasmania in an 86...that'll be mad... although i must say, atm 86's would be completely uncompetive in the classes they have atm.... http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/dcimages/7/5/4/536981.jpg
If only they had under 1600cc or even 2000cc NA classes....

Jusdrifn 86
8th May 2005, 09:07 AM
what i meant by circuit was doing anything involing handling and shit (track, mountain run or touge, targa events...ect)

funkymonkey
8th May 2005, 09:26 AM
wouldn't be the first or last to take an AE86 to targa.
http://www.wrc.com.au/team/story.asp?story=4547

also if you were around in 1991, bruce Herbert wasn't doin too badly in the rally circles in his AE86 as well.

Too-gay being considered a circuit event (circuit being a lap based round n round thing where you race for a time)... i don't think so.

Hehe, I like using my car as a daily driver, it's all it's good for in it's 4A-C state.

Though I like the whole idea of getting a drift setup 86, I consider myself a realist in the whole cost of it all. So daily driver it'll stay http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/sad.gif

maaaate... go the 4ac... we rigged up a turbo 4AC using a blow thru turbo setup on the carby for shits n giggles (well more cos we used to do it on our mazda's and thought we'd put some simple methods to get some fun out of some dying throwaway engines)...

was all good until the pressure inside the carby forced the fuel to recede into the lines... ideally if we built a pressure box for the carb to sit in we can run more pressure thru it, but meh, our point was proven and we had spent all of $300 and some mild steel piping on turboing the 4ac.

4ac's are tough lil engines, the one that was in my sprinter had done 400,000k's and it still ran OK with a f*cked headgasket that made it overheat up if you travelled more than 60km at a time. We gave it a good funeral by giving it some forced induction http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/biggrin.gif

4AC powah all the way.

what i prefer to do with my hachi??

DRIVE IT!!!!!!

i dont care if im tootling along through road works at 25 ks, or if im booting through my fav hills road, im still driving my 86 so its all good. what i dont want is a track bitch that sits there between track outings looking unhappy.
i want to drive it whenever i feel, and do whatever i want to do in it, grip or drift.

that is my 86 dream.

Yeah I like the 4A-C power for what it does, drives http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/tongue.gif

But then engine in the past 3 months has been dieing on me http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/sad.gif

So I just treat it right to get me from point A to B.

Plus it's my first car, soo it's like my baby... I never treat it wrong http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/wink.gif

after it being off the road when i bought it, it had to wait for rego and needing a few other things done to it which took a while (almost ten months off the road), its now running and my daily driver http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/smile.gif

i don't know what that means, but if it is about me not liking drift at all... remember people can have opinions...

I'm sure a lot of ae86 drivers doesnt like drag... thats called preference, not everyone likes the same thing, or HAS TO.

Loved touge in the 33 it was a mixture of a boxer 4 (basically 4 cyls out of a 512 BBI) Dual Webbers gargling away and -2.00 camber!

Especially brownhill creek runs at 90+! (berfore they re did the roads and it was bumpy as FUCK)

But yeah Adelaide hills sums it up, great driving roads, shit regulation!

Oh and i never ran good tyres on it, always bold ones!

Hachi is better for the same kind of roads, stepping up!

Wish i could have kept it though, but hey hachi requires dedication!

1st - downhill racing - its where i started (i used to live a top a mountain)
2nd - underground racing - picked up this bad habit after i moved to the city, and it is much like the type of 'drag' trueno kim refers to. sorta like the wangan midnight thing, without the wangan, just the urban aspect.
3rd - sunday driving - with the A/C on and some nice tunes.

mm nothin like the satisfation of pullin off a nice sideways movement. although you could say the same thing as getting a hot as lap time on circuit. definately hill climbs though, with plenty of hairpins and sharp turns, with some nice chill music in the background, that's where the most fun is to be had
