yes i know there was a topic recently about rev limiters but my question is a little different. before all the shit i had to put up with from the d*ck head that last worked on my car my enigne use to rev up to 8200rpm. finally got it back this arvo still with a shit load of problems and now it only revs to 7700 like most 4age's. Can any body tell me what has happend and what has he touched he wont tell me about, since the car went in for cooling repairs? i am thinking now the fuel pump is giving shit because its not exacly like a rev limiter but more like starvation of fuel...? also am after a clean ae86 radiator asap will post thread in wanted section.

hmm stock 4age shouldnt rev to 8200
cannot change stock limiter as far as i know
need aftermarket computer to be able to change the limiter.
its probobly wise that its been changed back to 7700rpm.
as its been said before that the power band ends at about 7000rpm

just cause they are limited at 7700 doesn't mean that that's their limit

toyota didn't build them to rev that far for them to be bad health after 8000

try an apexi rsm

well i think i may have found the answer to my problem. supposbly the jdm computers will let the engine rev to 8200 in 1st and 2nd gear if a certain speedo wire is connected, during the many f*ck ups the people that last worked on my engine had in one of them the must of disconected it. If true this is the same wire that cuts your car off at 180k's , so if you remove it you can get speeds over 180k's with out the car cutting out but you loose 8200rpm 1st and 2nd gear. Would anyone else be able to back all this up?

they WILL rev higher, is it worth it? prolly not on a near stock motor

moving the rev limit up 500rpm is suggested by club 4ag once u get some cams and a light flywheel etc
