I'm trying to put a LSD in my sprinter so I have my Cusco RS 2-way LSD, John picked up my T-18 rear axle for me on the weekend and I'm picking up a T-18 tailshaft when I go to Queensland. But when we pulled apart the T-18 diff housing to test fit my LSD we discovered that the ring gear is completely stuffed. So rather than just replace it I was thinking of getting one with a higher ratio.

Does anyone know what ring gear I can use that has a higher ratio?

ta22

4.1:1 ratio

or go to some wreckers and copy down the axle codes on the firewall from cars which have a T series

it will say T#### on the firewall

Go for a hunt around the wreckers for old celicas. A lot of them came with a 4.1 ratio which will give your car a bit better pickup over the 3.9. You might also be able to source a 4.3 ratio out of a jap hachi if you are lucky but these are harder to find. Otherwise you can buy almost any ratio from 3.7 to 5.1 from places like palmside in NZ and TRD still make them as well I think.

If you want to be reasonably sure you are getting the right ratio, check the diff code on the build plate. The codes can be found on the site below.

ta22 4.1 is the way to go.

If you've got some $$ to blow, techno pro spirit make t-series ratio's up to 4.7.

TRD are about 700-800 for any ratio, wei has on his site in perth some Techno pro spirit ones for 600 i believe. i was considering changing the ratio from 4.3 to 5.1 but i might just see how it goes with the 4.3 on the track first.

new ratio are really pricey, wouldnt bother unless its a dedicated track car

annoying to drive on freeway, long distances..etc with high gears

4.1,4.3 are a good compromise

Thank you so much for being so helpful guys.

So a TA22 has a T series rear end? Cause I was told that it had a S series http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/dcimages/7/5/4/536981.jpg
