right. some of you may think this is not a smart idea, some of you may think otherwise.
for now i'm just looking for opinions as i don't even have the sprinter on the road yet, but i haven't really heard much at all about this type of conversion.
so any comments, tips or opinions would be greatly appreciated.
thanks

there was one getting built here in perth
dont know whats happened to it though.

apparently u have to cut a sizable proportion of the trans tunnel to get half decent handling

i can see the benefit of just going out and buying a mazda, but i'd much rather just work with what i have at the moment. my sprinter is actually sitting in my mate's front yard with two rx-4s, two rx-7s, and rx-3, another rolla and an excel of all things lol

I remember seeing a 'toyrota' as it was called, at a car show in Ballina a few years back.... was a sedan model with a 13B..... wasnt a street car though.

There was a turbo 13B powered 86 in the 18th Edition of Speed, guy lives in SA and its got 220kW at the wheels. Pretty crazy ride

Wrong, and right, you can use the same tunnel, the engine has to be mounted a bit forward. I have driven it, steering is heavy(with the commodore brakes and stuff) but it doesn't feel that bad.

There's one in sydney(13bts4), built by pac, no rego.

Also they are not that lite, everyone seems to forget that the gearbox counts too.

If anyone needs one engineered aproved in sydney, let me know (you still have to follow the rta guidline's)

Although i would prefer a c18 or sr20 det's for a daily driven car

its been done, i met a guy he told me his name was 'Rice'

had a standard metallic blue 86 with a 13B turbo and S15 struts and brakes. it was NOT engineered though.

However, a guy i know has an 8 sec 20B turbo RX3 capable of over 900 rwHp and its STREET LEGAL even thought he car weighs in at around the 800 Kg mark.

this therefore says with the right mods a 13B t can be legally done.

i reckon its a hot idea!
mind you your 86/ke70 would have to be set up fairly comprehensively however i beleive a good drift car could come from a stock s4 13bt with plenty of fuel, front mount and exhaust. It would be an entertainingly powerful car, turn heads and sound awesome at the same time.
