Ohh.. i thought i had the powerful 4AC. 43.7rwkw....

Is your front suspension converted to coilover? If not, do you get much camber using standard diameter springs and camber tops?

Not really, I got another one for free http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/tongue.gif plus, the less 4ac's and the more 4ag's the better

I'm just using standard struts at the moment.
I could get almost 2deg neg with just the camber tops, but with the RCA's i can almost get to 5 deg http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/biggrin.gif

Yeah, bought it off an old couple who've had it since new ( http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/ohmy.gif have the paperwork to prove it http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/smile.gif ) and they'd stopped driving it because it was making noises from the engine.
Story goes:
I did pizza dielivery for about 2 years, and i'd seen this sprinter sitting under a gum tree for about 6 months. Hadn't been moved, tyres going flat, covered in leaves and crap. So I go and knock on the door and offer them cash for it. Talked it down from $1000 because of the noise, shot suspension and worn tyres.
And i got a registered sprinter with 3months rego on it for $500 http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/smile.gif

Wow, i thought i was the only person to pick up a 86 for $500. Except mine had alredy blown its engine.... but urs lead to that so i guess its kinda the same thing.

Goodluck with the rest of it. http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/smile.gif

Just fitted the T3 neg offset RCA's http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/smile.gif so now i'm running around with "the spastic camber" just cos i can. I'll post pics soon.
Also fitted a Cusco Brake Stopper. When I first heard of these I thought they were a bit of a wank, but i fitted it anyway, and it make a HUGE difference. I now have a higher, firmer pedal, that has heaps better feel.
Free plug for Cusco!!

Cheers

who u getting the haltech from?
and yeah that radiator does look nice

ToySprinta
20th September 2005, 07:24 PM
The Haltech is from Jakes Performance here in canberra.
The radiator is from Aussie Desert Coolers. Around $700 custom made.
Pissed me off cos 2 weeks after i bought it there was a group buy for these on toymods http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/sad.gif

Also just bought 10 rims of ebay for 300 http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/smile.gif so no shortage of drift rims...

Had a problem with the timing marker though, because of the oversize crank pulley, it was already bent upwards, but because i no longer run the water pump, the belt runs exactly "through" the timing marker... should be interesting to figure out.

Ok, been a while, but its back and running (just)
I now have a 4AGZE sprinter running 120RWKW with a cusco LSD.
Pics up soon.

Anyone else here used the Davies Craig Electric water pump and controller set up? I've just hard wired the pump, and now getting more consistant temperatures....

Hey mate i see you have a pc680 oddessey battery i am after one also to make room in the bay.. do you mind telling me what you paid for it and how it performs with the engine ?? like does it crank easy etc

rich_86
9th February 2008, 02:02 PM
this car much prettier then mine..lol :(

ToySprinta
10th February 2008, 10:25 AM
prettier?? lol, 1st time anyones ever said that.

the oddessey battery is great. only downside is that you have to keep it charged (like any normal battery) and that it is only a small battery, so only really good as a cranking battery. if you want to run a stereo and other ancilleries like that, i'd suggest mounting a bigger battery in the boot.

Cheers man.

Cars got a brand new motor, with new oversize pistons, smaller 270 camss and autronic instead of Haltec ecu.
1st tune has got 170kw at 12psi, and its heaps more drivable now.
Going through tyres a lot quicker two, where a brand new pair would last a day, i went through 3 pairs in a day. One set only lasted 6-8runs....

Hilux diff is in too, works a charm :)

Still having a few teething problems but getting there :)

The turbo manifold snapped? Or the intake?

If turbo manifold then where abouts did it fail? Have any bracing? I'm planning to run the same manifold so any info like this would be good

70XIN
1st July 2008, 05:43 PM
it's <2mm thick stainless, it's going to crack regardless of how well you brace it, it's just a case of "which month" it will

if you want a proper replacement, go steam-pipe

good work though on your placings man :) i lub this car

Actually its 1mm at its best :P

I got it as a trade for parts so I'm just going to make use of it. Bracing will prolong its life so its better than nothing.

If I continue down this path and get more serious I will probably change the manifold.

Anyway, keen to see pics of this manifold man :)

update or ban

or have you not broken any parts of late?

ToySprinta
25th September 2008, 07:49 PM
Lol, not much really happening. Just trying to keep up with maintenance :s
Popped the centre out of another clutch, got that in the night before SD last weekend.
Car started overheating on the prac day, so fitted another thermo, hardwired electric pump and hooked washers up to the radiator as a water spray.
Then....
Lost all power in the last corner of Oran, found out all piping is full of oil! :o
Drain line at back of head had crimped in a bend, so raced out to narellan and found a spring to keep it open.
That slowed down catch can filling up, but was still filling up every couple of laps.
So swapped rocker covers over, figuring that the head was filling with oil and flowing out the breather. Worked pretty well, still took about 8 laps to fill the can though.
Its not blowby, i think the engine was getting too hot, and the oil too thin...

BUT

Finished 6th :D

Was talking to Stewart Furze (who knocked me out) and he was surprised by the 4A's speed :D

Have a new jet hot coated GT28RS and AJPS manifold to go on soon too.

May have an new engine conversion in the pipeline too - Couple of hints
*Its a toyota motor (none of this nissan shit)
*Its all alloy
*Not a 1U

Final event for the year is the BBM cup on the 18th of Oct - Gonna be pushing damn hard for a podium, i'm sick of not winning :P
