hey yo'll

just a quick question.

I got a gze, with an old aftermarket emc. It doesn't have a air flow meter (AFM) on it.

does anyone knows how to tell by inspecting/looking at the engine weather it has the other sensor (a "map" sensor i think...) or originaly had an AFM.

the reason i wanted to know is that i'm thinking about putting a standard computer in it to get around for now and don't know weather i'll need an AFM. I had to change my battery and it's reset the EMC. it turns over, but won't fire as it's forgoten how! I can't ask it to re-map it's self as there is a "comms error" when you click the ignition to accessoy and it won't let you get past it to re-map it!

so i'm stuck with a car that won't srart! http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/sad.gif

cheers for any help in advance http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/laugh.gif

whatever brand your ecu is. ring them and ask questions and maybe for a base map.

or get an update of the same brand computer, the plug is probably not the same, but they can probably tell you how to rewire it for the new computer.

or if you want to go back to factory.

it doesnt matter which computer you get, as long as the sensors are all compatible.

AFM engines are big port.

MAP engines are small port.

not really familiar with gze's.. but the map sensor will be connected by some thin black vacuum hose to some part of the "plenum" that is after the throttle and s/c.

a map sensor is quite small, like around the size of a marsh mellow.

just cos it uses a map sensor doesnt mean its a map type engine either.
