After some shipping delays my new car has made it to our shores, with big thanks to John (sales@importbitz.com.au) at Import Bitz (http://www.importbitz.com.au) for arranging everything.

It's a kouki trueno coupe with an SR conversion. Not many pics at this stage but here's an idea

http://members.optusnet.com.au/netfiles/car_fr.jpg

http://members.optusnet.com.au/netfiles/clean_sm.JPG

Car runs Cusco coilovers front and rear, standard T diff with a fairly tight LSD, and on the short drive home it was a fair bit of fun.

First work to be done is new upper trailing arms and rear end bushes (they are seriously flogged out), general cleanup/tune, possibly move the engine back and fit anRB box, a new driveway. Oh, and fit the skirts ;) Came with a nice BN and battle mag sticker in the glove box too :) (Thanks Brett for "finding" those :P )

More pics soon....

Nahh, turbo kit for mx5 will be here on monday so I'll take that again. http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/wink.gif

Going to try and put the trueno on the road next week. Not sure how that will work out. Probably should start with a mufller ( it has none http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/ohmy.gif ).

i cant say i am a fan of sr's but that car is sexy

what is that red coupe next to it?

Anthony
25th June 2005, 02:32 PM
Funnily enough that was the only thing that put me off the car too. But I still couldnt resist http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/wink.gif . There is always the prospect of 4AGTE or 3SGTE power down the track. Maybe there'll be an SR conversion available ?? http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/smile.gif

The red coupe is a KE25. In the process of getting a 4AGTE conversion with W58.

good shit mate! nice to see a quality sprinter come to our shores.

BTW what the dilio with the sideskirt, the door skin's there but the skirt isn't?

Anthony
26th June 2005, 05:03 AM
Thanks for the positive comments. The skirts need to be screwed on and as they will probably have to be removed for compliance I havent fitted them yet (they were removed in JP for towing).

The wheels are staying sorry http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/tongue.gif

The gauge mount is one of the coolest things on the car http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/tongue.gif all aluminium and very ingenious. As for power its close to stock "out of respect for the diff".

mr2drift
19th August 2005, 02:17 PM
this car was amazing to drift, i was lucky enough for ant to give me 4-5 laps of it at a previous QR drift night prac. even with absoloutly shagged rear end bush's ect, and not very well alligned fromt end, the things possible in it were amazing. Example for fun you could throw it into 4th or even 5th gear on turn 2 and just carry the BIGGEST slides ever through to the dipper, with so much speed, you litterally had to jump on the brakes to slow down for the next corner. Hopefully taking ant in the passenger seat was as much fun for him as it was for me to drive/drift.

Anthony
21st August 2005, 01:20 AM
Certainly was, and much was learnt.

The car is currently undergoing a refit and will hopefully be back on the track before the years end. Bigger and better. http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/wink.gif

The "mighty" SR is long gone. I'll post some pics of the beams conversion as soon as its at a worthy stage. The 6 speed is very bulky so the firewall and tunnel are going to need some work.

Bathurst, I have new equip 01's coming from Japan - unfortunately not in that size but in the same size as the 03's recently advertised here (15 x 8 -3) expected to cost between 1800 and 1900 a set brand new depending on how customs goes.

There is talk of the 2006 hachi annual meet being in Sydney. Hence some progress has been made in getting the new setup.

It now has the new motor in, and the 4.6 Tarago diff is in to handle some Toyota Power.

Beams motors are hard to fit :S sooo tall and the turbo kit doesnt help either, being for altezza and placing the turbo higher than the top cover. Oh well, it was always going to be a challenge. More pics soo hopefully. http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/smile.gif

cant believe you cut the fire wall just to put the crappy 6speed in, the supra 5 speed would have been better and with less hassle and the supra will take more hp than the aisin 6 speed ever will thats my 2 cents good luck with the turbo idea ,will stick with the na version of the beams with 5speed

I think it's more about having somthing different rather than a "my gearbox can take more power" contest. There arent many 6-speed sprinters in australia.

the altezza box runs the same input/output shaft as a W box, and physically its compareable in size. being newer too it would be fair to assume it has to be compareable in strenght.

have you actually ever heard of anyone breaking one glenn?

StockAE86
5th July 2006, 10:08 PM
I think it's a known thing the 6 speed is weak compared to the 5 speed.

also same reason some people in s15's swap out the 6 speed for a 5 speed once they have blown it

why not move the engine forward to fit so you dont need the fire wall cut ,better plan all round .the ratios on the 6speed arnt that good being 1st gear 3.874 2nd 2.175 3rd 1.484 4th 1.223 5th 1.000 6th 0.869 my supra has 2.740 1st 1.590 2nd 1.240 3rd 4th is 1.000 with 5th being 0.880 much better ratios even for a turbo ,i just think that the 6speed is a wank factor as the last of the is200 here were changed to 5 speeds because people were complaining about the very short 1st gear ,then the long 2nd gear my 2cents ,you should ask bill sherwood to see what he thinks ,he has 1 in his frasier clubman

with the S15 thing.. in the cases i've seen/heard of.. they chose the 5spd box over another 6spd box due to cost, and the ratios in the 5spd are better for some setups...

Anthony

Wank factor perhaps - the 6 speed came for free with the motor. The motor and box have less than 20,000 kms on them. I havent seen it done in an 86, although i have recently heard of C & Y doing them (will check it out when im in Nagoya next week http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/smile.gif ).

The motor is that far back for 2 reasons, handling and the fact that if it was any further forward the height would become even more of a problem.

Thanks for your 2 cents though - it's good to hear from someone with experience with this motor. As for gearbox strength - like I said it was free, so if it breaks or 1st gear is too hard to live with (it's a track only car) then I'll fix it http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/wink.gif If you ignore first it's a very close 5 speed with good gating http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/smile.gif

so its going to be a drift car or sports sedan then ,certainly not a club car as 1 you cant use a 6speed unless you take 1st out and also you cannot cut the fire wall to get said gear box in and you also have to use a 35mm restrictor as well for said turbo ,but hey it should drift ok

Why would you use a 35mm restrictor for a FUN track car . If you are talking restrictors you might want to check the rulings as its 36mm http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/rolleyes.gif why any one would want to use a smaller restrictor for a turbo is strange or stupid . Sportsedan are by capacity x the turbo factor so once again running a restrictor is stupid . As for club cars i guess this car will most likely still have interior ? radio etc ? so unlike the countless people which have fully caged striped cars running on club rego , rally rego and towed to the track http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/wink.gif Maybe club level motorsport will be fine for the car running around with all the full race cars that people could race http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/blink.gif due to being equiped to do so but don't have the ball's too so just stay at club level for years and years in a comfort zone in the same club where they think there fast http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/dcimages/7/5/4/536981.jpg

thats ok anthony should be good.
adam if you are turboing a motor that wasnt turboed or modified a motor with turbo in club cars at least you have to run a 36 mm restricter ,so it keeps the fields closer together ,also in club cars you dont need a heater head lining passenger seat etc i just run the passenger seat so i can take passengers around the track from time to time .and i dont care which class im in as long as im having fun and trying to get with in the under 2 litre club car lap records at sandown ,winton and the island etc ,also i cant justify the large cost of doing state rounds etc. ps hows yours going, what times are you doing now at the above tracks in your turbo sprinter

Glen

What happened to the 35mm restrictor . Firstly you talking about racing restrictions http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/rolleyes.gif then you talking about Piarc group 5 club regs that have nothing to do with IPRA 1600-2000cc or Sportsedans 1600-2000cc rules , or anyother turbocharged or supercharged rules that apply to any other club in victoria http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/wtf.gif
What are you trying to say http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/huh.gif you are going for Piarc club 2000cc lap records ? or 2000cc lap records in a racing class like IPRA or Sportsedans or a the main club championship in vic the MSCA ?

If you don't care what class you are in why not race a race car if you look at track time vs money you are getting getting 6 x 5 laps plus a ten minute practice at a club event for depending on club of $150-190 , vs a state weekend with countless hours of driving . Look at a Island Magic run by your club , we had six hours of data loged from last time and there was a one hour race http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/blink.gif And from memory it was less than double the cost of one club day for all three days . Club racing isn't racing http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/ohmy.gif its against the clock and yourself and your time , there is nobody around you racing for sheep stations .

My car is in another stage of build atm and you should know the times are much alike your car for the 150rwkw it used to have http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/wink.gif with a passenger seat and rear seat , stereo , a/c and all the other things you find in a road car . But it might not return to the track since spending lots of time on a 2000cc car that for outright lap records regardless of rules , you might be able to see some pictures on the other 86 forum http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/sad.gif or maybe not since you won't be able to become a member since not owning a 86 http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/dcimages/7/5/4/536981.jpg

But that too much about things not related to Anthonys car , many since you know so much about this six speed box do a graph of speeds in all gears for him at what rpm point or something more useful than posting about your celica since this is a ae86 site http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/smile.gif

Once again , you have lost me ? IPRA is lap records under race conditions not just on timed laps . There lap records are not in practice , qualifing or any other sprint tyre event . Basically its under racing and club sprints are not racing once again . So you going to do a 1:25.96, 1:37.69 or 1:50.35 at the island http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/rolleyes.gif its really meaningless due to not being under racing conditions and not even with the same class rules . You might as well compare time with the sportsedans 1:20.095 , 1.03.39 or 1.42.74 at the island or if you going to talk tin tops then the supertouring lap records 1.37.17 at the island 1.00.62 at winton . Cars spaced out at the start with a flying lap is very different to a race with no flying lap and warm up . There is going to be ten laps at least not three laps . Look it's CLUB sprinting and you are in a class with rules that are set by a club , not a racing body like CAMS . If you entered in another CLUB you might find that your car is in a RACING class not a MODIFIED class or like MSCA it just goes by engine capacity regardless of modifications so one could find themself classes in with again 2000cc or whatever capacity classed vehicle x the supercharging turbocharging ruling . Or like the maserati and other clubs with a associate class its just goes by capacity or speed .

Anthony's trueno here might be in one club in 2000-2500cc via a 2000 x 1.25 turbocharging rule , or in another club it might be in 2000 x 1.6 so in 3000-4000cc class , or in clubs like the maserati club it would be classed by speed of the vehicle and like myself regardless of engine size due to the cars speed it get placed in 6000cc+ outright class ie: RACING class cars , MODIFIED class cars where there might even be a ex supertouring car there with a 325hp 2000cc . What chance has any old model toyota be it a Trueno or celica have against that class of car ? none . And since he is building the car for drift even if he was going to enter a CAMS drift event the capacity and type of car , engine , modification doesn't come into any effect that would class the car in some set by ruling limiting factors .

This is all a complete waste of time and you might as well save all your information on CLUB speed events for toymods or Piarc events as it has no data that even closely relates to Anthonys Trueno or any other Ae86 that someone might be researching here . If you post again please maybe bring some information that relates to the six speed transmission and its ratios that you seem to be against in this conversion . Since nodoubt its the first 3sgte beams six speed ae86 full stop ..... Still awaiting those speed in gear charts http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/rolleyes.gif maybe something like this

Well I was lucky enough to drop in to C and Y last night and got a few pics of one of their customers cars (and heaps of other cool shit). They had beams in an 86 and a te27 (mango). the 86 was pushing out 600hp through a hks dog box. The young mechanic there (their wiring guru - we had a good chat when possible) was pretty helpful but said i should expect no more than 300 safe horsepower from my setup. as well as the new trans their car has totally new internals including 304 deg cams and deleted vvt-i.

anyway here are some pics - they modded the pan heavily and its still way down there...

After hearing that Andy from Adaptronic was coming up to Brisbane and wanted to test the closed loop VVT control code I had to make some more progress on the car.

So in 3 days it went from a car with a bare engine sitting in the bay with no diff, shaft, inlet, wiring, exhaust or suspension to a dyno ready test bed...

Early work on the inlet, the factory runners were retained...

http://members.optusnet.com.au/netfiles/trueno_build/inlet2.JPG

The finished inlet... bit of a rush job..

http://members.optusnet.com.au/netfiles/trueno_build/inlet3.JPG

http://members.optusnet.com.au/netfiles/trueno_build/brakes1.JPG

The corona mark 2 "F" diff with brackets tacked and 4.3 gears fitted...

http://members.optusnet.com.au/netfiles/trueno_build/diff2.JPG

As for wiring, being only needed on the dyno at this stage, it was kept simple http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/wink.gif 3 wires to run the car. The latest version Adaptronic ECU with prototype TFT gauge screen and a wide band AFR unit.

http://members.optusnet.com.au/netfiles/trueno_build/wiring1.JPG

http://members.optusnet.com.au/netfiles/trueno_build/electronics1.JPG

Heres the running engine (NA only at this stage to keep cam testing simple) with a 20V rad for now.

http://members.optusnet.com.au/netfiles/trueno_build/engine_in.JPG

Andy tested the cam control systems on the car all day thursday and after studying the behaviour a bit got some nice settings. They're quite tricky to control with a duty cycle of 61% giving no movement at idle and only 67-68% giving full deflection (approx 55 crank degrees of advance !!!)

Closed loop control is essential as a small application of oil pressure moves the cam but then it has to be backed right off to maintain that position.

Another interesting note is that the exh cam actually retards with the application of oil pressure, which explains its vastly different shape to the inlet pulley..

On the dyno, the engine performed very well. peak inlet advance was found to be need at about 5000-5500 rpm then tapering the inlet back off works well. (this correlates to the 20Vs behaviour). Exh cam movement was less effective with only 10 degrees of retardation being applied.

The engine achieved good power figures right through the rev range with flat torque from 4000 upwards. (3150 N of tractive effort with a 4.3 diff and 195/50R15s, equates to approximately 220Nm).

Unfortunately the drive shaft let go at this point (which was an expreience in itself) so testing stopped. Note that fuel hadnt been tuned at this stage, neither had ignition. Both had been set to safe figures so as to setoptimal cam timing settings. The AFR was under 12 when it made the 128kW so its a very promising engine. I drove it pre dyno up and down the street and it felt very nice, even with NO cam control whatsoever.

Next step is to finish off the interior properly etc and get it legally on the road, and a new tail shaft of course...

The car is booked to have second stage tuning (with an upgraded tail shaft) done this week. SO, some progress pics, albeit slight.

The diff has been out, had the new TRD 2 way fitted, pinion angle corrected, traction brackets added (which also corrected said angle) and sway bar brackets. These had to be made from scratch as the 86 bar was fouing on the F housing.

http://www.kaizengarage.com/goldie/traction1.JPG

http://www.kaizengarage.com/goldie/swaybar1.JPG

http://www.kaizengarage.com/goldie/swaybar2.JPG

http://www.kaizengarage.com/goldie/diffhousing.JPG

The firewall was next. This had been cut and bashed previously but sonce the engine position was finalised, a complete second 86 section was used to give it the factory look (well once painted anyway)

http://www.kaizengarage.com/goldie/tunnel1.JPG

Some new rackends I picked up in JP (incorporated magic washers for those that dont know - more lock http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/smile.gif )
http://www.kaizengarage.com/goldie/urasrackend.JPG

The lock with these and PS arms is probably too much for 15s anyway.

http://www.kaizengarage.com/goldie/lock1.JPG

The car is getting a bit more interior attention this time. A hydraulic handbrake (the detonating tailshaft really made this an easier decision, its a mess under there!), and a new shifter shroud in the works, thanks to Brett here. sheet metal whiz. Also, the defis are almost back in. The extent of the tunnel edit can be seen as well. Didnt have to come back as far as I thought - thank God !

http://www.kaizengarage.com/goldie/shifter3.JPG

Rear rims are on. Ex MR2Drift with powder coated centres. Charcoal is apparently blacker than I thought... Probably need spacers to get them where I wanted which sucks. Corona Mark 2 diff isnt quite as wide as i thought.

http://www.kaizengarage.com/goldie/rearwheel1.JPG

The 55 degrees is in reference to cam position - as the BEAMS engine has infinitely variable VVT on the inlet and exhaust cam. So no that is not ridiculous.

Yeah havent painted anything yet after two collisions. I'm just getting away with what I can before it gets full paint inside, bay and out.

Anyway, some updates and pics from the numerous recent outings....

We've had the car out to some more events and everythings going fairly well with it. It's nice to get through 3 or 4 outings and just turn the key and drive the car each time.

Shane and I have both been driving it. Recently Shane took first place in it (in conjunction with Mumblezz) at the "Super Sunday Drift Pairs" event. There were only 3 toyotas at this 22car event and all 3 were on the podium http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/smile.gif a couple of pics...

http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/dcimages/4/8/4/3/133135.jpg

Then the car went to a trial event at an old go kart track at Archerfield. A 5 min drive from the workshop - sweet. Shane and I double entered the car so it got a good workout. This tight technical course was hachi territory and I learnt a fair bit more about the car and driveline. Some pics of course...

My fave with me at the wheel.
http://www.skidmanphotography.com/gallery/gallery2/g2data/albums/Option%201%20Garage%20-%20Archerfield%20Drift%20Demo%202007/8.jpg

The stickers looked great under lights/flashes. Shane at the wheel. The tyres everywhere were hard on the kit.

http://www.skidmanphotography.com/gallery/gallery2/g2data/albums/Option%201%20Garage%20-%20Archerfield%20Drift%20Demo%202007/30.jpg

Last thurs I took the car out to a private practice day at QR. Got heaps of time and thought I had found a major problem. Turns out I had gone through about 40 litres of fuel (a lot of driving) and it was just fuel surge.

Today I entered the car in round one of the QLD drift championships at QLD raceway. I took what I'd learnt at the go kart track as well as thurs afternoon and managed to qualify in the Group A top 16. Doesnt sound that impressive but I can tell it was quite surreal to be out at the start line in that group of cars I'm used to watching at the end of an event. I was eliminated by one point in my first battle by the man who went on to get 3rd in the comp.

Needless to say I'm very happy with that result.

Last pics I promise...

Quick update...

Goldie is currently getting a few upgrades, an 8 point cage and a turbo kit. Will put some progress pics up as the work is done. Should be an animal when it's ready.

We slapped a temporary car together out of an ADM shell I had laying around so I could keep driving. It's turned out to be a fairly sweet car, so sweet that Josh thought he should take it to Dirft Australia at Eastern Creek. A couple of pics but I'll do a buildup thread of this car soon...

The logo was designed by Garth @ digitalfunk and the sticker treatment by Martin and Garth @ digitalfunk.

So due to a lack of time and money, I'm taking the hard step of parting this car out and commencing a ground up rebuild. The turbo beams motor package will be sold soon with mounts and crossmembers etc. Details TBA in the Kaizen Garage section. Most other parts will be sold to fund the buildup, all the wheels are gone already :)

Seems like a backwards step but I was stuck between needing to do work to the car to keep drifting it (it pretty much didnt get touched in 16 months of constant use) but not having the time or money to do it the way I wanted to. So I'd rather cut it back, raise the funds and then redo things how I want as I can afford to.

The good part is, in terms of getting the workshop known and showing what we and Adaptronic can do, the car has been a huge success so I'm happy with that!

I'll try and document the rebuild in this thread. Don't think I'll be able to retake the most viewed title back from Medwin though - unless I start bumping my members ride thread like old mate :greenbounce:

Anyway the new motor is already in stock. No real suprise when when you see it in the bay hopefully within a few weeks. It's Toyota of course, and also has VVT-i to keep the Adaptronic workload up a bit. To the best of my (google) knowledge it may be a world first for an 86 too... more soon....

A bit sensitive on that topic med? I was actually referring to a recent new members ride where they guy bumped his build thread second post before someone politely told him yo don't need to do that :)

Sorry you felt you had to retaliate against nothing. I was just having a laugh with it - obvisouly if page views matter to me I'd would have updated it a few times in the last 6 months :)

Anthony

Actually medwin, just to add... I laughed it off at first but since you've attacked the build of the car (for absolutely no reason I might add) I'd like to point out that in 16 months, over 30 events, where the car was driven in the manner it was built for, the car suffered no mechanical breakages, won state level drift comps, won dyno comps and basically just worked again and again.

Thats with pretty much all the fabrication, wiring, setting up and tuning done inhouse.

ive heard nothing but bad news for turboing a 2zz. the supercharger version is apparently very safe because the lift kicks in after the supercharger switches off. this is so the lift bolts don't break as easily as they would with it on during lift or when turbo'd.

but the lift isnt very apparent when doing this however. feels like a smooth transition

don't really see how that's possible. Firstly if you look at the valve train, boost has absolutely no effect on the variable lift system. This is supported by the fact that neither the blitz nor greddy supercharger systems for these motors switch off before the lift changeover point. I appreciate your input, just not sure where your info comes from. :)

Theres a great SAE engineering report written by the three designers off the 2ZZGE, quite frank as it openly discusses the compromises and drawbacks of the finished design.

Nice results mate, welcome to the AE86DC. What boost are you running for that power? How built is the motor?

thanks mate ...... that power was achieved @ 21psi of boost and the motor has pretty much had everything u can throw at it thrown into it ..... more pics and details can be found here http://au.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/inde...?showtopic=7291 (http://au.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=7291)

Well D.A. got me interested again, and the workshop move is pretty much complete so I decided to spend an hour or two tonight investigating this new motor a bit more. I'll post some pics of what I found out. basically just deaccessorised the motor, checked out the manifolds and water situation.

The motor as it sat in my garage. It's a japanese built Celica ZR motor so it's the most reliable version unlike the locally delivered corolla sportivo motors. I've already checked the lift bolts etc and all seems fine.

goldie looking a bit sad.

Front of motor detailing drivebelt layout. Culling accessories is always a fun part.

top cover off. You can see the vvti pulley on inlet only, massive bearing caps and a normal and high lift lobe for each pair of valves.

Funky drivebelt tensioner.

Inside the top cover you can see the overhead oiling for the VVTL-i valvetrain. Nice and clean for whats meant to be 140,000kms.

This is the lift solenoid body. It has an oil pressure switch and the actuation solenoid itself. If the ecu sees insufficient oil pressure to successful move the lift rails it wont attempt it. Also shown is the familiar 4-1 vvt trigger (as per the beams3S) and the rear of the head where the lift actuation housing goes. Also notice welsh plugs in what must be very hollow cams.

Just under the lift housing is where all the water outlets reside. throttle body, heater and radiator are supplied from here. They all face out the back of the head and theres no housing - its part of the head, this is one of the challenges ahead.

These motors run a very generous throttle body by Toyotas standards (66mm at the outlet). The plenum is also huge at over 4 litres with cast bellmouths for the runners. Unfortunately I will probably use very little of this as its a bit hard to work with for FR layout.

The inlet ports are a sensible size, and slope straight down to the valves nicely - much like the beams and 20V motors.

Another look at the accessories. I'm pretty sure I'm going to ditch ps and ac, put the alt where the ps was and change the water pump pulley from flat backed to 6 rib so the belt can run the other way on it. I'll then have a simpler setup and keep the tensioner. I'll order a new water pump while I'm at it.

Here it is with a few more things off it. starts to resemble a normal motor. :)

Next step is to trace out the gearbox adapter plate. looks like a 1G bellhousing will be the best starting point.

so how does the lift actuation soleniod work? i know it uses oil pressure, but what does it act on to 'engage' the high lift lobe

ive only driven one of these celicas and never lifted the bonnet, so not too sure on the mechanicals....

also, does this mean aftermarket ECU is out of the question? or can you get an adaptronic to work the VVTiL ;)

Yeah the adaptronic can do it. The lift is just an rpm switch like vvt on a 20V, very simple. It cuts in at 6000rpm from on factory ecus. As for the VVTi part, it did both cams on the beams so I'm sure inlet only will be fine.

The lift system is pretty straight forward once you see the diagrams. Theres a very informative white paper here. (http://www.mmsport.com.au/download.php?fid=34)
