Who cares really?

A hachi is a hachi. If you own one for its looks then your owning it for all the wrong reasons.

ALL AE85's were shitty 1.5L 3AC's. if the car came with a 1.6L engine (regardless of 4AC or 4AGEU) its an AE86.

AE86's with 4AGE's were sold in japan, usa and europe with poxy interior, non tiltable steering columns, shitty rims, no power anything, no a/c, not even a radio, drum brake on the rear and disc on the front. Its only a select few that came standard with all the good stuff, and a few lesser models with optional upgrades.

The aussie 86's were specifically supplied with engines built to last in harsh Australian environments, with less need for regular servicing etc. You gotta keep in mind that hachi-rusto's were built and sold for regular users in 1983, not for drift superstars.

personally i think its the colour coded bumpers that make them look takky as hell, reminds me of a boxy old 300zx or something...

I really, really hate the look of the USDM Truenos, they just look weird.

The only good thing is that they came in both hatch or coupe, and are either zenki or kouki. Plus they got the good ol power windows and power mirrors, and a lesser option of power steering.

Plus you gotta love their steering wheels http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/tongue.gif

Nah... I think you guys are probably a bit thrown off by them cause the front reminds you of the celica/supra of that era.

Well it does to me. http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/dcimages/7/5/4/536981.jpg

I honestly think the trueno AE86's look hot if theyve been given the right treatment. Tho i agree, the american ones dont look to hot often. I really prefer that japanese styling.

But, youve got to remember even the levin's dont look all that hot in standard form

http://www.kanto-aw.co.jp/eng/img/levin/86tre_hb.gif

^^^obviously not too hot^^^

http://www.kanto-aw.co.jp/eng/img/levin/86lvn_hb.gif
^^^but neither was the levin^^^

But they can end up looking really hot:

Big poo factor right there.

butt ugly cluster/steering wheel, even the damm door trim is different.

Why so many different versions, i dont understand.

I love the Hachi for what they are and can be and/or have been.

1min flat at Tskuba is enough for me.

Cheers

the american market's pretty harsh, you have to release a "safe" car for it to sell well. The australian market is driven by reliability and cars that can withstand harsh environment.

You gotta keep in mind the era the hachi-rusto was released in. Globalisation was just a radical concept back then. Getting parts from one country to another wasn't an easy task, etc.

The 2 piece bumpers are pretty ordinary, but i reckon it looks better than an aus spec.

Bollocks its better than the aussie one, I'll have mine over that any day.

au ones look WAY tougher. i do like the pop up lights, but the levin/aus ones look much cooler... well to me anyway http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/tongue.gif

Dorikin, you are crazy, look at a JDM Z31 and tell me its not hot! Although, they are rare as in australia, ive only seen 2 in the flesh and one was super mint condition ^.^ The aussie spec boxy 300s look shit, ADM front end that makes it so.. And theres nothing wrong with old skool celeicas or supras either http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/ph34r.gif

But i mean, dont look at the car as what it comes from factory, look at it as to what it can become !
