AE86 or Toyota

Well basically this thread is about are you a Toyota fan or just a AE86 fan. For me, im abit in the middle. I love AE86's and love most of Toyota's creations. But i could have a Nissan or Mazda aswell without hesitation, what about you?

Own my 86, but drive my missus's OneVia a lot as well. Get a lot of fun out of her car drifting/racing it, but yearn to have mine back on the road...............

reasons why I got my ae86 in order of importance:
1) I'd feel better crashing my ae86 than I would my skyline or cefiro
2) It only cost me $650 for a running RWD car with some bonus goodies, I'd be hard pressed to get a similar car in the nissan, mazda or mitsubishi range for a similar price.
3) Availability of spare parts from Japan, Australia, USA, UK etc
4) It has very good structure, balance and layout suited to what I want to do with it.
5) There are a LOT of resources on modification, service and maintenance on it available.
6) It has a dismal interior that I don't feel bad stripping out


Not really a big fan of the 4A series engines, or many other toyota models... I'm predominantly a Nissan person (hence me changing the entire front sus/steering to S13 parts and putting a CA18DET into it) and I know how to tune RB20's and CA18's myself. That said, I have a soft spot for Celica GT4's (rally), Celsiors (VIP) and AE86's in general.

I supose I always liked ae86's but never took too much notice of them. As for the rest of the toyota range, nothign really takes my fancy that much. I've always been a V8 man. Then I moved onto liking rotary's, now I'm into the ae86's. But I will always have a soft spot for an old 351 falcon..

I just fell into having a AE86. My girlfriend bought it for me for my 18th b-day for $500 (had a blown 4AC and no rego)
From owning an 86 i have also started to like a few of the other toyota/lexus cars. Mostly the big 4-door drift sedans.

Yeah, i find myself into Toyota's now since owing a AE86. For example - GT2 or 3. Most of my car garage will be Toyota's.
But if I had a choice of another car, it would have to be the KPGC10 Skyline

have always been a toyota fan, I 1st loved the gt4 celica's. Then when i was a wee lad i spot a hot as yellow sw20 and made me love toyota's even more! I have thought about buying a daily driver recently to retire the 86 for weekend and night use, but have been limiting my choices to rwd and toyota!!! I plan to buy as my next project after the hachi an sw20, toyota all the way for me

im more of a car person so i'd have to say AE86. I dont dissagree there r other good toyotas like supra, chasers etc. but i go by which models are good not really the make. An example of this is the new micra (no offense to any micra drivers) but i just dont like 'em. they look weird

im a huge fan of toyotas and nissans, and of old skool cars altogether... boxy cars it seems, and also popup lights... cars like the old supras, old celicas, old mr2's etc... but my ultimate ultimate old skool car is the 240z... now THAT is a hot car... my next car http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/smile.gif but i also want a 350z...

i only really like toyota

i can say another car is 'cool' i can say that is a better car than mine, but i feel wrong driving them and the like! toyota only for me for the time being....

i love ae86/ae71/ke70, kp61, mx73 - jzx81 - the whole cresta cressida chaser series, jzx90 etc, jza70 supras, celsiors, crowns etc...the whole lot

local toyota is pretty much junk tho....

still super reliable.....blander than week old celery

i LOVE the 1600's, ute and 4 door. I recon they look soooo tough
i like Jag's aswell, i love the r32, r34, FC, FD, Supra, SPRINTER!!!!, datsun 180B's, 1600's, hyundai coupe, s13, s15, mini, MUSTANG'S FOR SURE!!!!, 300zx, 350zx and the wrx. they're some of my favs
